I want a '68 Plexi bad (my birth year)...had a few in the past and let them go thinking I'd pick up another some day...then something happened to the prices.

Congrats man
Not many amps out there that will induce a tsunami

What a trade you made.. if you still have all the original parts that's even better!! Your JMP sounded great though. By the way, I've kept some info on some of your mods and i have to say, for a simple few part swaps, you've found the magic that brings these amps to life! Tonestack lift is a dirty little trick that people forget about, really gave me that VH feeling when i tried it.

what power tubes are in it? kt120?

good LORD that thing has to fucking shake the earth......good for you man....good for you!
the feeling of running that much power.....good god!!

i can run my tourmaster on 100 watt setting, with the master around 5 and it shakes the house...

i've ran both my 5150 and tourmaster... 5150 lead post on 5 and tourmaster on mv on 3 and it's ridiculous....fuckin A!!!

what a feeling you must have right now....thanks for posting all the pics too man!!

It has JJ KT88's in it right now and one of them is blown.
It was like that when when I got it.
I'm not sure what power tubes I'm going to put in it yet.

Thank for the kind words

IMHO I'm really not sure what they are worth.
I just know I'm not selling mine anytime soon. :D

Thanks for the kind words.

AWESOME! Congrats on the great score. That is a behemoth of an amp. Definitely going to move some air in your cabs!

Yeah the guy got a great sounding JMP 50w.

I'm glad I was able to help you with your mods.

Congrats on the score. OD caps aren't original. Filter caps, rectifiers, and screen grids have been changed too. I'll be shocked if the OT isn't shorted. If you can crank it up and it doesn't blow fuses you got lucky. Those amps are money pits and bound to fail, that's why Marshall stopped making them. They couldn't keep them running.

Thanks Jerry.

You're 100% right, they are money pits.
It's going to cost me a few larger bucks to get it up and runnin'.
They were never the most efficient running Marshall amps. That's for sure.
I have a '78 Super Lead 1959 as my work horse and the Major will be my "trailer queen". :D
Works for me. :D

Lol hard.

Not many people I know who's dream amp is a Major!

Clearly it has been serviced (they probably all have by now!), but it's still a killer amp. The OT is leaning as if the amp was dropped on it's heavy end at one point.

What speakers are you going to run it thru?

It's just the biggest & baddest amp Marshall has ever made, I had to have it. :D

I'm going to be using Celestion greenbacks & V30's with this amp.

The first recording I do with the amp will be with greenbacks.

Greenbacks? Better use 8 of 'em!

Thanks Bruce

I'm very aware of the destruction this amp can cause.
