I keep hearing great reviews of this pickup but haven't bothered trying one out yet. I know you were fond of tonezones, how does this compare? tighter low end? Smooth top? Have you ever played a JB that you can compare to this pup?

any chance i could get you to make a short clip (10 seconds) of the guitar without any amp/effects so that i can reamp it and see how it sounds on various rigs?

I have the AT-1 in my PRS. Great pickup, can't think of anything I'd do to improve it. Nice clip.

I just put one in a build for a customer and it's my first time trying it and I have to say so far I really like it. May have to try it in one of my personal future builds.

something simple like 4 chords....

I'm not sure what you're looking for, just a raw track ??

yes, just raw guitar. i can use it to send through various amps and see how i like it before having to actually buy the pickup and install it in my guitar. i know it will sound a little different on my guitar because of the wood, but i can still get a the basic idea using your guitar clip.

if you have a 10 seconds to record something and email it to me, i would greatly appreciate it. rossjjohnson@gmail.com

I have been wanting to try the AT-1 for a while now... I'm normally using a ToneZone in the bridge of my Charvel SoCal and i love it. But i have been wondering how the AT-1 would compare tone-wise?

As usual, very nice clips and chops! I didn't know the JB and AT-1 were that similar until now. I like the JB quite a bit and now you have me curious about the AT-1. Nothing really to add, just saying. :)

Nice clip. I use an AT-1 in my SA Ibanez. I also have two Cruizers in it as well. Andy knows tone for sure.
Seems used price on these have dropped a little too. Everyone needs to try one!

I sold my AT-1. I pulled my Dimarzio Norton to try the AT-1 and didn't care for it at all. To me it lacked balls and was just kind of sterile sounding

My new to me Charvel came with an AT-1, so far I love the pickup. NOT sterile sounding, no ice pick highs, no mid-honk - just reminds me of the Duncan Custom Custom, only better. This is in a poplar guitar with maple neck and big brass Floyd block.

If it's got almost the same top end as the JB, then it probably won't be for me.. As the JB's top end grates on my ears big time. Only time I really liked the JB, was when I had the Alnico 2 version (Duncan Holdsworth), as that had a slightly warmer top end and less sizzle in comparison.

nice soundclip, but i can't use it to reamp because you are already playing through an amp. i would need your raw guitar straight to pc with you strumming 3-4 chords.

Oh okay, I know what you mean now.

I don't have the right connection to hook up my guitar like that.

I don't think the AT-1 sounds anything like a JB. The output is lower, the highs are NOT grating, and there is no honk in the mids, IMHO.

JB-2 (A2 magnet swap) sounds great for leads I agree but it was at the expense of losing the tightness I like in the bottom end of the JB. If it helps, Dimarzio recommends the AT-1 along with the super distortion to tame brighter guitars. It should in theory, be like a JB with softer highs.....again, "theoretically".

Inspired by MichaelR/T and this thread, I now have an AT-1 on order for my new-to-me Ibanez RGT with mahogany body. I'm also looking to smooth out the highs while adding a bit more mids and sizzle as the guitar isn't lacking for high end, or so it sounds through the Crunch Lab in there at the moment.
