Loved it.. you officially make everything sound like VH so I suspect you'd make a solid state pedal sound killer. Nice clear tone on this one. How do you set the EQ on your amps btw?

Crazy! Isn't that bright as hell with a 1 meg in there?

That said, I was cranking my 800 this afternoon with a few of the mods you mentioned and i am at the point where i want a bit more jam for leads but i hear a shit to the high end when I hit an overdrive pedal. Some will like this, sometimes it still bugs me despite all the tweaking and tips I have got. I can therefore understand why you like to go straight in. I'm happy to have found my rythm tone though so I'll probably use something else to record leads.

Also using an AT-1 by the way. I find it has really excellent note definition in chords and riffs.

Thank you my friend !!

There is a reason for that. ;)

There's a little trick to it and I have mentioned this a few times but I don't think people are getting it.
It all starts with your guitar.
You need to ditch the 500K volume pot on your guitar and replace it with a 1meg or even a 2meg for less signal resistance.
This will give you a little more gain and what call "the firecracker snap" on the top-end of your sound.
& with the 1meg guitar volume pot I gravitate towards three different bridge pickups, DiMarzio Tone Zone, DiMarzio AT-1 and a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB.

The only problem with this mod is that the single coil pickups can get little noisy when using a lot of gain from your amp but I don't have this problem with my humbuckers.

If you want to try this I recommend the Dimarzio EP-1202 1meg pot.

My amp settings on the Orange was treble-9 middle-9 bass-8 gain-9 and master-1.
I'm always plugged straight into the amps, I don't use any effects in between.
I take the raw stereo recorded track and add a little post reverb and that's it.
I don't EQ after or do anything post production to the recordings.
The recordings sound like my amps would on a big open stage.

I don't think sugarloaf ever used that much gain, but it sounds killer. I'll have to check out that 1-meg pot idea. I've got a set of Dimarzio Gravity storm pups that need to go in a guitar. Maybe I could try the pot with those.

Sounds GREAT man.

I'm fascinated by Orange amps.

Oh, and don't turn the gain down, turn the master up!
