1970 1959T Super Trem 100W Superlead with "Bay Area Thrash mod" by FourT6and2 (Mike). This is essentially Mike's version of a Todd Langner mod from the 1980s. Five gain stages, similar to the DCP-1 preamp and Langner's other Marshall mods. In addition to the mod itself, this amp was completely gone through July 15, 2025 by Mike and maintenance performed where needed, fine tuned, and tested. Below is the list of things that were done.
Bay Area Thrash/Langner mod
Filter cap replacement-All F&T
Added Depth
Added Slope switch-Shifts mid frequencies-Down=more upper mid grind and Up=scoop but NOT SCOOPED...lol
Added Variable NFB
Added FX Loop
The amp has original output transformer, highly sought after Dagnall C1998, but the power tranny was replaced at some point with a Mercury Magnetics (see pics for model). Will ship with power cord, JJ EL34 power tubes and (2) EH 12ax7, (1) JJ 12ax7, and a Sovtek LPS. The power on indicator lamp unfortunately has a mind of its own and is on/off intermittently. Depth and NFB pots are new, rest of the pots are original. Headshell and tolex has dings and tears but overall good shape for its age.
This is a plug straight in--no boost needed-amp. Still takes boosts incredibly well, but in no way needs one.
Insanely rich, raw, and organic gain structure with a warmth and clarity that I've not experienced in any other amp (Lots of vintage components, including many mustards). Chords ring thick and clear and single notes have a weight and depth to them.
Despite the warmth, it has a wicked growl, tons of aggression and bite with killer attack, presence, and cut.
There's an extreme range of tones and textures possible despite the simple feature set...every tone control has a huge impact.
Huge low end if dialed that way that stays plenty tight but with some great give behind it...not stiff whatsoever.
Has that awesome bouncy-juicy midrange that makes it hard to stop playing.
Amp punches hard and moves lots of air when wound up but sounds great at low to moderate volumes too.
$4975 shipped and insured PP FF or buyer pays PP fee or Zelle.
