What were your settings? With the JMP I built to Adam's amp's specs I usually set it somewhere around this:

Presence: 10:30
Bass: Almost zero
Mid: Dimed
Treble: 11:00
Bright Gain: 2:30/3:00
Normal Gain: 12:00
Channels jumped

If you want to get even closer to Adam's sound, his amp has the .68 cap in V2. And the caps in both V1 stages are 0.022 As well as a .68 presence cap, and NFB is 100k on the 4 ohm tap.

Here's a quick clip I did a few years ago when I first built the amp. It's a little stiffer sounding than a real Marshall due to the Mercury Magnetics transformers I used. And it sounds better now that it's broken in. But you get the idea. :)

Ignore all the mindless noodling a the beginning and start at the 4:00 mark for Tool stuff. :D

This is very close to my Superbass settings except I usually dime the bright volume and I use a Y cable into the two high inputs to bridge my channels.

Interesting. I've never tried a Y cable. I just a short patch cable to jump the inputs and plug guitar into amp.

Thats how I used to do it as well. A friend of mine who techs turned me onto it as he said thats how Eric Johnson has always done it. If you get a chance, try it out as there is a noticeable difference between the two!

I will def try it. All this talk of JMPs makes me miss the Metro I built. It's currently sitting on a shelf at my buddy's house a few thousand miles away. :( I need to take it back with me when I visit him next month. We were filming a project and used it in the video but I left it there. Then I built a Ceriatone JCM800 but gave it to my niece to use so she could learn to play guitar.
I remember you posting clips on HCAF back in the day and I wanna say I remember thinking it sounded glorious. :D

When did you get the Herbert?

lol no Herbert. I have a VH4 and Einstein. Just got the Einstein about a month ago and I really like it. It's got the same Diezel high-gain as VH4 channel 3, but it's a little warmer and a little less hi-fi.

Have you tried EL34s? I've actually never tried 6550s in a Marshall before. But I know they came with 'em back in the day.

Not in this amp...
I was going to do the swap over but I'm in love!
I have =C= el34s in the vh4 and both of my older Diezels had them too.

Wow thanks!
I don't know flood yet :(
Working on the pot and 4 degrees right now.
I am working on my own stuff with a band right now too so that soaks up lots of my learning time

that does sound killer, there's one of these on ebay in the UK at the moment which is very tempting...

Flood is easy. It just goes duh-nuh nuh duhn-duh, nuh dun-nuh nuh duhn-nuh duhn-nuh (repeat like 200 times in 13/4 time)
