I've been thinking of recapping my JMP 2204, since I'm pretty sure it's never been done. Is there a specific brand of filter cap I should use, and what can I expect this change to do for the amps tone?

F&T caps. The bottom will tighten up and be punchier and everything will be a bit clearer and defined. When they get old the notes can sound blurry and muddy.

+1

F&T caps all the way

F and Ts for sure. I changed out the caps on my 78 JMP a few years back and it did exactly what Jerry said. It just sounded Alive afterwards. I was the only one who could really tell because I played it everyday but it made enough of a difference to make it worth it.

+1 on the F&T's, make sure you replace bias filters as well, my amps have a bit more MoJo now.

I need to do this on my '77 JMP. The Dalys have about had it.
