It might though, have a 'loop mod' which makes the FX loop usable and adds a shit ton of gain, resulting in a killer amp. It then might be called a B+...but not a real C+.
It's not the loop mod circuit. I cant tell exactly what it is, but it's not a IIB or any of the known mod variants

has anyone ever seen mesa use that ugly black epoxy? whats up with the caps on the 5 band eq? they're like triple the size of the stock ones.
edit: ok, nevermind, i read the cl ad...work WAS done by someone else.

You're forgetting how amps were built 30-40 years ago - electronic components tacked in wherever they will fit. A IIB circuit board while not providing a neat component layout could absolutely still be refitted into the C+ circuit with some period correct hackery.
I understand where you are coming from, but Mike B says it CANNOT be done correctly with any other preamp board OTHER than the RP/SP10. This amp may be a killer sounding amp due to aftermarket modding; absolutely.
But in no way is it ever going to be considered a real deal C+, which is what the seller claims. Unless you can confirm it with Mesa…which is impossible since it doesn’t have the right/correct preamp board. With todays huge prices on legit C+, I think it’s misleading and just plain wrong to advertise this as a real Mesa modded C+. Someone’s gonna get ripped off.

someone elses mods besides mike b's are not going to sit well with the mesa boogie cult. :p

Now Boys..

To keep this in perspective, the guy is asking $1800 for a modded IIB that may well sound fantastic. In the current market that's pretty reasonable.

With "real" IIC+ going for $6-7K, no one is getting boned on this deal.

Yeah, 'real' IIC+ might not be an accurate description. But the price seems pretty reasonable.
IMO this is a like someone modding something like a plexi into a 800. Still all marshall, all 800, but not factory release or upgrade.
