Hi!

I finally found a nice '83 2203 and had to do some (recording) comparisons.
Which one is your favorite and why?

Best regards,
Simon

Marshall / Single SM57 0:00
Marshall / 57+421 1:26
Mesa 2:39

Marshall / 57+421because it sounds thick and full to my ears. The recto sounded too fizzy in this recording for my taste.

Did you listen on Headphones?

I hear the fizz on the recto. I'm listening through my computer with a 6 speaker system.

It's called the Fizzyfier for a reason.
Needs more volume. Maybe more EQ.
Will get even more compressed.
It wasn't as loud as the Marshall.
But the Marshall wasn't loud enough too :D
But you get the idea ;)

Sennheiser HD58X

I somehow like the single 57 for it's simplicity and rawness. You get tightness and clarity, without phase issues.
With a bit more EQ the others are totally fine too, imo.

Marshall 57/421 because it sounds the biggest and thickest.

Yes, it does, but i'm still a bit undecided....
Need to check the Fredman also, again.
57+906 was a bit dull on the G12-K100.

I hear the Recto fizz too. But regardless nice clips!

2020 and a boosted 800 is still slaying. Great clips bro!

I really don't know why the modding even evolved :D

Marshall sounded 80’s mean as it should!
Didn’t catch any info on the cab/speakers, is that a 1960BV?

Yeah, thanks! ;) It's a MF400B loaded with Celestion G12-K100

Were you boosting the Mesa at all? Marshall sounded pretty good.
