I vividly remember waiting in line to grab this on vinyl. My older brother had (at the time) an impressive ‘component’ stereo system and I raced home to drop the needle on this baby while dubbing it onto the highest grade Maxell Cassette money could buy. Then it was right back in my Trans Am with the cassette to snap in my Alpine cassette deck. Damn. Youth!!!

Jah i had many copies of this get destroyed during wild ass parties.
Damn drunkards.
I still have the first 4 VH albums on cassette i still listen to.
 
This was the first album I owned as a kid. I think I was 7
 
Jump solo on the radio is what made me pick up guitar.
 
My friends and I were at a lock in the night Jump was released by the radio stations. Midnight 01/01/1984. w/intro. We just stood there with our jaws open.
 
I’d moved on from being excited about a new VH release by this point. Always appreciated all they did, but other players/bands had my attention at this point. Great album tho.
This album cover is an all time favorite along with Heaven and Hell by Sabbath. Classic.
 
Loved this album. Bought it on cassette and wore it out. Play....rewind....play, pause/ stop...rewind..play... over and over.

Yep except mine was a Marantz stereo..wont ever forget that first time hearing this blasting from the speakers..funny it wasn't even guitar..Ed showing us he had other talents too..

Me too! I remember my mom took me down to Sound Warehouse in Dallas, TX and I stood there waiting as I watched them bring the unopened box of vinyl out to the sales floor. I was number 2 in line. I bought the cassette version two weeks later. I miss those days!

And not because of the guitar work :LOL: I mean the solo is cool but it is not a guitar driven track. It was just awesome because you could tell on first listen it was going to be a huge hit.

And of course most of us then didn't know about the strife between Dave and Ed. If we knew then what we know now it would be even more awesome. Or maybe more sad :( Hard to say. You certainly wouldn't have guessed by watching any of the MTV videos (Jump, Panama, Hot for Teacher) as they all just screamed like they were having the time of their life.

Yep. +1

Just what I was saying too and we had a Marantz stereo in our household too. Cassettes were still new. I used to record a bunch of stuff off the radio onto Reel-to-Reel.

House Of Pain is one of Ed's best riffs and the song ain't bad either.
