I'm looking into a Bogner XTC which was made in 2003. This is before the red channel was updated.. correct? Would this amp be a 100b? If so, what exactly are the differences between it and the 101b, I've heard the 100b is much more open sounding, and organic. Much more Marshall sounding, whereas the new XTC is very compressed.

What would this amp be vaued at? I'm looking to trade my Mako Mak2 Dorado for it... what would be a fair amount of cash on my end?

If the amp runs on EL34 it's 101B, if it runs 6L6 a 101A.

100Bs were only built in the 90s and they were the first 100 XTCs made. You can recognise them that they have only 1 presence control, but in the back they have Variac and a dummy load (speaker mute).

The 101B sounds more modern than the 100B and I would say what is better depends what you want. If you want a more vintage flavour, I would look into the new 20th anniversary XTC, for more modern styles your 2003 101B will be perfect.

Value depends on condition and your/the amp's location a lot.

Idk, I find the new 20th anniversary to get more modern sounding than the 101b I used to own. More aggressive, punchy and gritty and the red channel can get closer to an Uber. The 101b is a little rounder and smoother by comparison.

Thanks for the help fellas! But, I have a deal for a sale, it was my first offer, so if that falls through i'll probably trade for the XTC
