Dave, is there a way that i can make my Triple Rec's clean get more headroom and maybe add some fullness to it?

Is there a pedal out there that would achieve this or does it need to be modded?

Eventually i'll have everything running through an RJM RG-16 or the new rack Gizmo from them.

Thanks,
Paul.

Well you can mod the whole amp and it will affect the clean also. Not sure it will do what you want though.

I just want the clean to be a little cleaner and have more head room.

Hey there Paul... what you should be asking is if there is a way to run the cleans with EL34 tubes and the distortion with 6L6's... the EL34's cleans were the best cleans I'd ever heard (it sounded as if the 4x12 grew by at least 5 feet in each direction... it was so crisp and chimey) when you popped them in... the EL34 distortion not so much...

Dave modded my dual recto last year and the clean channel was very noticeably improved! I actually preferred the cleans over my Mark Iv cleans. Damn, I miss that amp

Mortega, I tend to think just the opposite. The recto shines with el34s or KT77s on the gain side, while 6l6s sound great for cleans. I went with KT77s and gz34 rectifier tubes in mine and I feel the 77s were the perfect middle ground between 34s and 6l6s. They have that 34 top end and growl/sizzle but are beefier than 34s. Basically, if you want a little more mid chunk go with 77/34s. The gz34s tightened up the amp quite a bit when set to tube rectifiers.

I have several decent demos of all channels of the Friedman recto on YouTube under the name cordanscedo.

when your ready to get rid of that MKIV I will trade you my near mint revision f dual rec serial number 1300's with mk III trannies for it!
