2023 Review in gear

So I started 2023 with a brand new Friedman BE100 Deluxe. That lasted less that a month. Then went to a Engl Savage 120 MK II. Spent most of the year gigging a Kemper Stage. lol. And ended up back home on an EVH 5153 Stealth. lol. There was also a week long stint of Engl Artist Edition.

Guitar wise I started the year with my trusty 2005 Les Paul Standard. Bought a couple of strats. A couple Charvels. An EVH Wolfgang Standard… then my wife hit me with a 2003 Custom Shop Les Paul R7 Custom that was loaded with a set of Voodoo 59s for our 20th anniversary. (My dream guitar)

Pedal wise I picked up a Shure wireless unit. A Dunlop EVH way and the Boss SDE-3000EVH. All in all, a pretty toneful year.

One of my favorite purchases this year is the new Bad Cat Lynx.

Very cool amp.

I didn’t do that much. I bought a ‘74 Super Lead and a ‘70 Super PA. Sold the Super Lead. Re-necked my Pinecaster Tele. Built a Matchless Lightning clone. Bought a Marshall 1960B Vintage with G12M Blackbacks.

And my LP Std had shrinking binding creating a little ‘cliff’ at the fret ends. Playing something like the intro to Spirit of the Radio was a nasty/clicky mess. So it is getting refretted, no fucking nibs, Jescar 51100. I decided it’s worth it, I really like that LP and I couldn’t sell it like that anyway. It’s ready but I'm out of town but he said I can pick up New Years Day. Can’t wait!
