Cool vid, though I must admit I wasn't a big fan of the tone he dialed in. A bit twangy for my taste. I thought the EMG 57 sounded the least twangy, though. So that one was my favorite.

The Solars sound a little twangy, I can definitely hear the Strat legacy in their sound, much more than set neck/tuneomatic. Listen to Ola's clips as well. Even though it's heavy as hell, there's a springiness there that LP style guitars don't have. Maybe that's an Evertune trait? God knows there are enough springs in that system to add to the twang :)

I still am an EMG 81 guy. It just does it right. Imo anyways. They are classic for a reason. I have them in six or seven guitars (out of around 40 fiddles in all). They are not the be all end all, but I get great results.

I'm sure Jari loves his twang too. He, after all, did use a Tele to record one of Wintersun's albums, didn't he?

And yeah, I definitely hear that in Ola's tone as well. I'm sure that has A LOT of things adding up, though, not just the Evertune. The guitars are 25.5" with alder bodies. Ola also loves to run his tone knob on his Tube Screamer (if he's using one) pretty high too. The Fortin Grind he sometimes uses adds a lot to that too. It's a combination of things.

Not to say the tone in the vid was *BAD*, really. Especially once the full mix kicks in. I just like it slightly beefier. Still very useful comparison, though.
