So, what's available out there?

I know Ibanez makes these, but I have never owned one I liked. Maybe the J Customs?

Suhr makes a badass guitar from what I have heard...

Carvin does too.

WarMoth anyone?

I have really great sounding MIM 70s Strat, that plays horribly, so I was thinking of getting a replacement neck (24 fret), and having a new trem system fitted. Anyone know of a good place to get the neck?

lado hands down. will customized anything you want. If jo's hands build it, you will not find anything better. One of the best.

I am trying to find out which is the best option for me, regardlessof price. Once I know what I want, then I can start sourcing some bills :D

When money is no issue, it really comes down to personal preference.

What sort of superstrats do you prefer? neck profiles? construction? woods? neck dimensions?

I have owned 2 Lado Canadian Classic neck thru with Floyds. Had them for years. Great guitars. Lado makes a killer instrument for sure.

I do however prefer my Suhr Modern :) The SS frets just kill. Build quality doesn't get any better.

Look for used Ibanez RG3120. For the price they're great.

I own this GMW, which is the best "soloist" style superstrats I've ever played:

Check out McNaught guitars DJ+, http://mcnaughtguitars.com . you can get a completely handmade guitar for under $2k. I have a G5 which I bought second hand after I had my order in for my Suhr Modern. If I could do it over I would order a McNaught, incredible guitar.

I'm a big Carvin fan, their contour is the closest but only 22 frets. I would say of those mentioned all are great. Consider adding Zion to the list.

have new anderson tele style, cool versitle unit, a different flavour. Looks pretty, undated electronics, wide array of tones.

Vigier makes great superstrats.

Also Tom Anderson anybody?

OP mentioned 24 frets, TA's are always 22 frets. Tom refuses to have anything to do with 24 fret-neck guitars or extended fretboards.

lado has exotic woods from 30 years and older in he his collection.
Check out frankenstein guitar works, another great custom builder, have had about 6 units from him. Great customizer master luthier.

Thanks guys!

I should probably mention that I prefer non-pointy guitars, I.e the more classic looking rounded designs. Although I do like some Ibanez models. I still own a FR, which I kinda get on with. But the others that I have owned, have always left me with sort of not satisfied. They have been really easy to play (almost too easy), but there was something about the fretboard that never really hit home with me (I adore the ebony neck on my 60th an. Strat).
And there was the tone. They had a sort of "plink" that would show up from time to time. And changing to better pick ups only seemed to amplify that.
Maybe I was going about it in the wrong way

Still, when I see a new Ibanez I like it seems to pull me in and suggest it to be the answer to all my prayers.
I am just scared of pulling the trigger!

I'd recommend either a Suhr Modern or a Music Man (Silhouette or JP6). Both top notch companies and well crafted, versatile guitars.
