I am trying to find out which is the best option for me, regardlessof price. Once I know what I want, then I can start sourcing some bills :D

Best for you?

Put ten of same model guitar in a row, play them all, and you'd be hard pressed to find one of them that felt, played or sounded the same as any of the others. And what I might consider the worst of the lot could be the gem to you and vice-versa.

The problem I believe many of us make, is in drawing an opinion based on “I played that guitar once and it sucked”

For instance, I’ve never been much of a Fender-Strat-kinda -guy, but the best feeling/sounding guitar I ever played was a Stevie Ray Vaughn Strat at Steve’s Music in Toronto, that must have been around 1992.

I’m still kicking myself in the ass for not spending the $1600 CND price, haven’t been able to find another that felt or played like it since.

Sure do like my Suhr Modern though...most people who've played it, agrees.

I love esp for these types of guitars or jackson, i dont own anymore jacksons but they are nice and i kinda wished i kept my black sl2h, esp -II is what i play and like the best. i like a neckthru and both of those brands are good for that.

if we are talking about a bolt-on neck then suhr would be a great choice.

Another vote for Suhr Moderns! I've got three and would not mind having another one day. Never had a "super-strat" that I was more happy with than my Suhr Moderns!

90's import charvels are really nice too, usually go pretty cheap.

Something like this:

Check out the Ibanez Prestige line. Hands down just a great guitar. I love my RGT220A.

Ibanez Prestige RG1550M(maple neck) great guitar, very well built,I like the Ibanez Edge trems over any other type of Floyd Rose trem, you can go nuts on them. The only thing I did was change out the stock pickups and replaced them with Seymour Duncan.

So, what's available out there?

I know Ibanez makes these, but I have never owned one I liked. Maybe the J Customs?

Suhr makes a badass guitar from what I have heard...

Carvin does too.

WarMoth anyone?

I have really great sounding MIM 70s Strat, that plays horribly, so I was thinking of getting a replacement neck (24 fret), and having a new trem system fitted. Anyone know of a good place to get the neck?

maybe i could shamelessly plug my new suhr sig model? :D

When it comes down to it, if you want a solid super-strat with 24 frets that you are not going to have any gripes with, your best bet really is Suhr or ESP (and I mean ESP, NOT LTD), unless you get a custom from one of many excellent luthiers out there nowadays. As you know, Suhr will rape your bank account, but you are guaranteed a superb axe, as well as with ESPs as long as you like ALL of the standard options.

I am still willing to sell my ESP 48th St super-strat. Sounds great and still plays great even though it has flat frets. Just throwing that out there... :D

Andy, having artists like you here is what really adds to making this forum better than it already is.

Can you elaborate on what makes this new model work better for you over the other models you've shredded on in the past?

I was really hoping to see a seven string model endorsed by you or someone of your caliber, a nice mixture between baritone and shred-ability, anything coming down the Pike from John?

Thanks!
