2nd Langner sighting, even crazier price

Wow! That's quite the price tag! This guy is thinking pie in the sky or something. I know there's a guy here in northern California who has an every rack gear, guitar cabs, and modified Marshall amp heads made or modded by Todd Langner. He's become like Mark Cameron in the amp world without the bad business practices and on this website in particular.

Todd used to work for me at Euphonix , loved the guy, crushed to hear of his passing. I helped him with some of the later amp problems (circuit design, grounding, pcboard layout). I have 3 of those green preamps in my barn somewhere. Todd gave them to me when I lent him a couple grand to get a new car . He paid me back and told me to keep the amps as thanks. I always had trouble dialing them in but I rarely use anything but my Deluxe Reverb or Champ turned up to about 7 or 8.

Im surprised these are so sought after now. But I remember Todd was one of the most brilliant guys and you only had to tell him once about anything audio and he would understand it and make connections to guitar amps that were next level. He would ask me and one of the brilliant hardware audio designers questions until we ran out of answers. The guy he learned his audio chops from is the guy who designed the Euphonix EQ and Dynamics and is now working for Apple . He is one of the smartest guys i know and one of my best friends. I wont name him because I respect his privacy. I dread telling him that Todd passed.

Anyway , Id probably sell one or two of them if they donate a couple hundred to Todds favorite charity ACPCA.

I also helped him get parts that were discontinued and have his last amp made in 1997 or so before he ran out of original parts. He told me he couldnt build anymore and I found old stock from Japan and Korea which allowed him to make a few more amps.

I would probably prefer to sell from someone who is a player and would think they have found their dream amp and I'd probably sell it to them for what Todd sold his to Joe S for. I will have to ask him what it was. (He texted my wife that it was $300.) I just saw a link on this site for one listed for $10,000! So I wont blow that guys sale by posting it until it sells. I think the parts plus labor to build one was less than $200 mostly due to the high cost of small volume PCB and outrageous prices we paid for original components.

I would trade for a decent Strat or a Todd modded Marshall head for my friends 13 year old metalhead. I have the Original late 60s marshall cabinets in that same barn.

Ok now im going to go grieve for Todd with some loud blues, my Deluxe at 10 will endure he hears it from the other side. Fuck! Fuck Fuck I miss him already.

-TNP email me by adding @ gmail.com to my name here if interested in an Amp or parts.

Well it is what it is. Honestly, I would take it as a sign of respect to your buddy that you lost. Not a lot of people could leave an artistic imprint on the world that would be so desirable. I liked your idea of auctioning them off and donating to charity that he would have wanted. Good luck!

Best thing I've read on this forum in all the years I've been here.
TNP,just know that your friend is legend here. Those that met/knew him have nothing but glowing memories.
And those that chase his amps or mods almost rabid about them.
I have my dream version of a Langner modded Marshall. I don't need another one.
But I most certainly will head over to the ASPCA(I'm assuming that's the charity you meant)to donate in your friends name.
Love sent your way.
Martin.

Glowing memory, well said Martin. Todd was ALWAYS cool from day one. I have so many stories and never ever heard anyone say one negative thing ever. I think most people always had a sense they were in the presence of a genius. His intellect was evident but he was so humble and it was genuine.
