2x12 Cabinet Recommendations

In these past couple of years, I have become an Orange fanboy. If you're looking at a PPC 2x12, you should consider your reasoning for going to a 2x12 rather than a 4x12 or whatever else. The PPC is not very portable if that is a concern. I get mine around but it's larger than many other 2x12s, and the weight is heavy as many other companies 4x12s, and even the size isn't much smaller than say, Avatar or Marshall 4x12s. It does sound great and gives a very 4x12-like bass response compared to some other 2x12s. So if emulating a larger cab is the concern, maybe a PPC would work. But, if you're going for a 2x12 for size/weight management, I would like at the EVH or something else. I also agree about them being expensive. I have to buy a single Orange product at retail cost, because they are simply overpriced. The cabs are built like tanks though, the amps... eh, not so much.

Out of curiosity, do Mesa make a non-slant vertical 2x12?

If you plan to use it live go with a wedge. I grabbed one of these and they sound great.

Thanks for all the responses, I was looking to add another 2x12 to my midi rig to go with my existing Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12 and luckily scored a 2nd Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12. They are awesome cabs and the two stacked on top of each other sounds awesome as I get to hear more mids and highs and looks awesome, hell just the two cabs are taller than my other rigs 4x12 and Marshall head together,  .

If you get a Bogner OS 2x12 it WILL sound like shit if the V30's aren't broken in. Bogner and Stone Age cabs are pretty similar. I wonder why Mesa doesn't make an OS like that style? Orange and Mesa cabs are also great though,.

For custom made, high quality cabinets in Canada I highly reccomend you contact Tim at http://www.saxon-cabs.ca/home

I am not affiliated, I had him make me two 1x12s (one open-back pine, the other closed back birch) and simply believe in his product! He has been making cabs for a long time and knows what he's doing! Prices are great!

Speaking of Saxon, he made me a vertical 212 Recto clone. It's the best cab I've had the pleasure of owning, and cheap to boot

another vote for the Bogner Oversized, it's EPIC. I also really love the Marshall 2x12 2061cx

Quick question for those who love their Bogner OS 2x12 cabs... Have you kept them stock with v30's or have you done any speaker swapping?

Wizard 2x12's kick ass....14" deep and closed back! They're huge sounding, built like a tank and Canadian made!! Here's my purple snakeskin loaded with Lynchbacks. The white cab has V30's and the boa snakeskin has Scumback BM75's.
