When I bought the chassis for my recent Matchless Lightning-inspired build I bought two of them because they were the last 2 obsolete Ceriatone chassis/faceplates and Nik gave me a deal. I considered making another Lightning but decided to try a 2xEL84 Trainwreck Liverpool as the base for the second chassis. And this time a head instead of combo. I'm adding a post-PI MV but otherwise starting out pretty faithful to the Trainwreck circuit. Mercury iron, sort of a custom set but available on their site (basically just added endbells to the OT), this amp uses a big resistor instead of a choke. The original uses a 6k6 primary Z OT with 4xEL84s. This OT is a 6k6 primary Z OT but at 2/4/8 ohm secondary. I'll be running it at 4/8/16 so it should be a good match. 253-0-253 PT so voltages will be pretty low. Right now only the initial assembly is done, lots left to do.

Hopefully the faceplate will eventually be replaced with something pro (same for the Lightning). This is just the Lightning faceplate reversed. Works for now and I'll keep the indicator light easy to remove.

that should be sweet man. I did something similar but I think I used an 8k transformer from an 18watt kit. Your name for it is killer though lol. enjoy! I spent a lot of time tweaking the NFB to get it just right without letting it get too out of control

Resurrected. Life and work and laziness got in the way and I back-burnered this. But it will be finished soon. It almost ready for the board to go in and finish it up.

Ive had Bugs Bunny and Rocky and Bullwinkle marathons on while I was wiring my last project..

No idea if this thing works but I think I’m done. Time for a beer. I’ll start the fire up process during commercials.

I had the OT primaries right, yay! Backwards Mid control and the Volume pot didn't have a good case ground but otherwise all good. Pretty good noise floor, hiss but no hum/buzz. Haven't tested it for tone. It's hot, that's for sure.

It sounds like a weird combo, but with trainwreck circuits i absolutely love the 12L speaker

The hifi ness of it seems to meld well with it
