I really like the Gibson 500T Bridge pickup on my LP Classic. I would like to try one in my Mahagony body Ibanez but need something F spaced. Is there a pu close to the 500T with this spacing?

Also, does anyone know if the fixed bridge Ibanez RGA121 uses a standard or F spaced pu?

I've read the Duncan Custom is similar, but I haven't tried it myself. The Duncan Distortion sounds kind of similar, except its brighter and tighter.

Gibson T pickups are pretty much F spaced. It's close enough that it won't make a difference.

This ^.

Let me repeat... The 500T is spaced wider than regular pickups, but slightly smaller than F spaced.
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I have read that most can't tell a sonic difference between the two spacings anyway.

Thanks for the response.

I was thinking about the Distortion also, just never tried one.

Thanks for the offer. I have the BL pick up in my N4 and it sounds different than my 500T LP. Though I shouldn't compare since its in two totally different guitars. Do you have any experience with both pickups in the same set up?

Huh? The Distortion is very strong in the mids and low mids. The 500 has more upper than lower mid range, and also has a scooped sound to it over all. Both are pretty tight.

pretty high output pickup anyway so I doubt it will make much differance, u might actually like it.

I agree that the 500T is more scooped. To me the 500T has a little more bass, and is more scooped. If you add more upper mids and have a little less bass, it ends up sounding similar to the Distortion.

I would say they are both average tightness. They are both more "sluggish" compared to EMGs or something.

I think they are both in the similar neighborhood. They are not dramatically different, like a 500T and an EMG81 and a Dimarzio Tone Zone would be.

I'm afraid not.
