...how safe is it?
I know 'spec-wise' it looks ok, but realistically?
I don't feel like blowing speakers.

I know it should be 'ok' and lower levels, but i would also be using it at band levels.

I don't see how it's any worse than a 100 watt head into a 4x12 with greenbacks and people have been doing that for decades. I use a 100 watt head into a 2x12 with greenbacks all the time, you just have to watch your volume a bit.

I use a 2x12 with Greenbacks or another 2x12 with 25 watt Scumbacks. Havent had any problems. Ive used them with my Plexi and my Cornford.

Your playing rock son, shit will blow up.

I would not worry unless you are running wide open for long periods of time.

I think you will be fine. I mean I have seen a EV EVM-12L 200Watt speaker blown in a 412. How that happens, I don't know.

I run 2 anni G12H30's with my Vox AC50. I have been told on the forums that I am risking it, but I haven't had any issues.

I run a 78' Marshall 50w through 2x12 with greenies, no issues for me that i can hear of.

I blew a GB up in a 4x12 with a 50 watt Marshall 2204 once. Yes, I was trying hard to be stupid. I replaced that blown speaker, and have pounded that cab for 10 years, with 5150s and dual rectos- no problems. Use common sense.

You should be fine. I would wire them parallel for a bit of safety factor just in case one happens to blow.

If you are using 2 Greenbacks in parallel then the total wattage of the cab is 25 watts? Also, has anyone used a 100watt head on a 2x12 with Greenbacks?

Even then, I wouldn't worry too much over it. Manufacturing tolerances are way better than when greenbacks first came out, and I know it's been talked about how guys were blowing them with 100w plexi's and such, but I don't havea whole lot of faith that it was the wattage of the amp that caused it - more like bad manufacturing / inconsistencies.

I can't think of anyone that's blown a guitar speaker that wasnt doing something stupid these days.

I ran my JVM410H though a 1x12 with a 25W speaker for months. I just didn't crank it, and when playing clean I made sure not to have it very loud. Speaker is fine...

No, with speakers, you add the wattage ratings of each speaker, given they have the same impedance.

25 x2x12 = 50w.

50w cab with a 100w amp is within reason - loud enough to gig or practice with a moderately loud drummer.

If you have a blasting drummer, then you'd be safe to havea 100w or higher rated cab.

ive played my 150 watt bogner twin jet into a 2x12 with greenback at total band volumes and so far never had a problem with it

i do lower my global depth just as a precaution though, the bass on that amp is just nuts and even when i lower it the greenback still pound you in the chest with low end

Benn running the same set up for 2 and a half years with no problems so far..................

Duh, i got it mixed up. I meant if you used say, a V30 at 60 watts, and an H30 at 30watts in a 2x12.

To determine wattage of a cab the formula is actually: the lowest rated speaker (x) the number of speakers in the cab.

Duh, forgot to post that bit.

Did with my JMP for about a year. Worked and held up fine. Sounded great too.

a (output in watts) + a (Green back power handling in watts) = WIN

Its like the default recipe for rock.
