decided to give my 5150 II a facelift. I had an old grill from the rear of a bogner laying around so I decided to trim it down and make a new faceplate. I also added white power/standby switches and have some white peavey chicken head knobs on order, as well as new corner protectors. gonna retolex too but not sure which color I want to go with yet. what do you guys think ?

I like it...looks road worthy...

it is actually part of an old touring rig that has been gigged all over the state from what I know about it. the headshell and cab have plenty of battle scars which is one reason I am kind of cleaning everything up and customizing along the way. this set up may see some more gig use but if it does, it will be in some sturdy cases to help protect it. the faceplate is mounted using the original grill frame from the bogner headshell just cut down and glued with brads into the peavey shell. I fastened the grill with stainless allen bolts ala the way krank grills are installed. considering the way the faceplate is mounted and also where the faceplate and even the handle are from it is kind of a mut to say the least

Hey! I'm actually looking for one of those Bogner back grills...
If ever you want to sell it, I'll buy it

Like the new grill, looks good. White tolex? Maybe it's just me but that would look pretty wicked with the new face plate.

Agreed, especially with the white knobs on the way.

if I had known I would have probably just sold it to you. I have already trimmed it down to fit in the peavey headshell, so it would be of no use on anything other than a peavey at this point ...

yeah the white would be cool, and I may go that route afterall. I have contacted mojotone as well about doing a custom white faceplate exactly like the silver one, just white, so white may end up being the only option I really have.

Yes that's what I saw upon better inspection of your pic
Looks pretty nice; I've modded a 5150 in the past too and it didn't turn out as good

I did my sig a few months ago. happy with how it came out.

But one day I'll do this!

Not a fan of the white switches. White with silver always looks odd to me. But the grill looks cool!

Looks great! mylysis, I like the white switches, have you ever re tolex a head or cabinet before? I was thinking about redoing my head and cab one day but I've never done it before!

Thanks ... I have the white knobs as well I still need to put on, And I finally decided on white Tolex as well. I am looking at getting a custom white faceplate since I am finding the silver to be kind of awkward to look at with all the white about to be on it.

The crush 36, I have retolexed amp heads before but never cabs. The amp heads were easy enough, as long as you take your time. I would think that a speaker cab would be the same only on a bigger scale
