I know right? Like that recent thread comparing the DSL and the EVH. Many sounded like they were ready to junk their current amps and get a DSL based on that one internet comparison vid :lol: :LOL:

I know Sevendust were using the 100 watt version on tour.
 
These amps truly slay me. Set the EQ's to about 12 o'clock and adjust the gain up or down on either the 2nd or 3rd channel and you can do a run through from classic rock to the most modern of metal tones. And in my opinion, this amp isn't leaving any of the in between tones out. I play an AC/DC riff, I turn the gain up 1 click and play a Thin Lizzy riff, I turn up the gain 1 click and play some Van Halen riffs, I turn up the gain 1 click and play some Rhoads stuff, I turn up the gain one more click and start playing Zakk riffs and Sykes riffs and every type of tone brings a smile to my face.

I haven't even gotten to the third channel yet. And I agree, turn the gain on the third channel down to 9 o'clock and it sounds killer in a classic EVH way and gets way, way meaner as you go up.

Damn it I have been gassing for the 50 watter for a few months now. I have a 6505+ in the stable but I cannot help but want a 5153. This thread and that clip just ramped up my gas even worse.
 
Damn! Much appreciation for the comments/listens!! :) I know about the the love fest for these things and the threads have worn their welcome out with some folks, sorry 'bout that. But it is a friendly priced, non-US built production line amp that in stock form, happens to hit all the marks for many players. And as Chubtone suggested, they're versitile! I think history will be kind to this line of amps over time, hell, the early trend is way more positive vs the "heh" opinions. Not starting a debate, but the proof is in the taste of the pudding as they say, not the necessarily the ingredients. :D

Oh yeah, also, for the home recording players - these 50 watters are extremely complimentary with other amps in mixes!
 
I don't care where that amp is made, it sounds awesome!!! I am surprised that channel 3 was used, as most reviews tend to say that channel 2 will give you the brown sound.
 
I don't care where they're made either... I'm really dying to try one out. No one around here stocks them though.

Yes. Only real differences between the amps are channels 1 and 2. Channel 1 on the 100 watt breaks up just a bit sooner than on the 50 watt. And channel 2 on the 50 watt has a touch more gain on tap than the 100 watt does. I like channel 2 on my 50 watt better just for that reason. You can use a boost on channel 2 of the 100 watt to get the same results though. Other than that the amps pretty much sound identical. But being that the 50 watt is a 50 watt and the 100 watt is a 100 watt there's probably a little less ooomph in the 50 watt but you can dial that in with the resonance knob.

Agreed. If you crank the gain all the way up on channel 1/2, you get less of a volume jump when you switch between the clean and crunch, but the clean is not really clean...

That could be taken either way but I'm guessing it's a good thing and not a wrap on the 50w in particular! I remember not especially being blown away by my 100w either, but then again I didn't really have it long enough to give it a fair shot. I've dug this 50w however since day one so I dunno, maybe you did get a funky head (or screwy tubes, etc), ya never know.
 
I prefer the 50 watt to the 100 watt, played them side by side, preferred the 50.
 
Played a EVH 50 watter today at a music store in Portland. Really a great amp. I liked channel 3 with the gain on like 2. Blue channel was very cool. I liked the gain around noon. Was playing it with a EVH 4x12 and it just sounded damn good.
