Has anyone compared them? I'm looking at picking one up this month and am trying to decide which version i want. I'm going 50 watt since both times i've played the 5150 iii i enjoyed that 50 watt version more ( am i nuts? ) Anyone also have any clips of them through the same rig? Thanks again! :)

Yeah, I'd say you're nuts. The stuff you already own makes either EVH sound like a toy. I wouldn't waste the money.

I was looking at your sig and thinking the same thing. WTF?
All the 5153's are cool, fun little amps for the $$ they sell for, but none of the versions are anywhere close to the amps you already own.
For what it's worth, I thought the regular 100watt was the best sounding to me. VERY similar to a Bogner 101b. I had the EVH and the 101b side by side, and it was kinda surprising, actualy.
YMMV

You don't say? I've owned the 50 watter more than once, never played the 100. The 101b is my dream amp, does the 100 watter sound that different?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking for a great amp to jam with buddies, my sig amps i use for recording.

Are they welded to the floor, or don't actually belong to you?

The stock 100w version just sounds bigger. You can play the 50w for years and be happy with it. You won't think it lacks anything. Then A/B it with a 100w and you'll notice the difference. I've had three of each. The 100w is big and heavy, but it sounds bigger and heavier too.

Even with the resonance knob, the 100 sounds bigger. I own the original 100 and have played the 50 and EL34 model. I do like the Stealth model, but after I bought my Spawn, the EVH just kinda collects dust. lol

Yep.. Been in the EVH & Splawn camp multiple times. I'd take a simple Competition over a 3-channel EVH any day. Killer amps.
