Ive had a gsp1101 for a while now but just hooked it up via the 4 cable method, it's awesome that you can set separate eq's and pedals and all that, but now Im wishing that i could change the amp's channels along with the 1101 patches via the control 2 foot switch. I looked at the payne labs k-switch but it looks like the amp would need channels controlled by 1/4" jacks for that to work, so does anyone on here know of any switching products out there that may work for this purpose?

I'm assuiming you have the 5150III 100w, not the 50w. The only way to switch channels on the 100w other than the footswitch it comes with is to get a footswitch that sends midi commands. You will then need the RJM mini amp gizmo to translate the midi message to change the channel on the amp.

so......midi footswitch>>>RJM mini amp gizmo>>>>footswitch imput of the amp.

The Digitech Control 2 doesn't send midi commands as far as I know.

well the control 2 switches the patches on the gsp and the gsp is midi capable

You will also need the special cable from RJM to go from the Mini Amp Gizmo to the amp. I use it with my EVH 100 watt and G-System to switch amp channels. Works great.

the gsp only accepts midi commands (there is only a midi in and midi thru, no midi out). Your footswitch doesn't have a midi out either, therefore you do not have anything in your current setup that sends out a midi message.

Sell the control 2 and pick up a midi footswitch and an RJM Mini amp gizmo along with the special cable that goes from the gizmo to the amp (as victim5150 previously stated).

Ok, but then wouldn't I lose the wah, whammy and volume pedal capabilities?

WAIT!!!!

says this in the manual "By setting the Send MIDI Prgms option to ON, MIDI program change messages will be sent out the GSP1101’s MIDI Thru jack when presets are changed on the GSP1101 either by the front panel Edit/Select knob, by selecting them in the editor librarian, or when the GSP1101 receives a program change message via MIDI. These MIDI program change messages do not get sent out of the GSP1101 when Send MIDI Prgms is set to OFF. This option is set to OFF from the factory"

So it WILL work with the control 2 since that does the same thing as the edit/select knob right?

checked this out, apparantely it should work, as whatever commands it does (program change/effect change) the gsp1101 gets via the control2 , it'll send out as the approrpriate midi CC or program change through the midi thru/out

people have been using their control 2 + gsp 1101 as a midi controller for axe fx for example

Simply put

Control chain:
Digitech Control 2 board uses a Cat 5 cable to the GSP1101 processor. The power to the control 2 is conveniently supplied by the same cable. I send the midi out of the GSP to Axe-FX Ultra midi in.

My Signal chain:
Guitar to front of AxeFx Ultra, AxeFx Xlr out to House mixer and in turn to my IEM for monitoring.

I have programmed all my presets in the GSP1101 to be as close as possible to my presets in the Axe. All my tones are generated by the Axefx, should the axe fail...the GSP1101 is used as a my backup.

Note. To use the tuner on the Control 2 I have to plug my guitar in the GSP OR leave my guitar plugged into the axe and manually engage the tuner function on the axe.

Set up time: 5 minutes max.
Tear down: 10 minutes max.
Tone: Killer

There are all sorts of floorboards which will work with the axe but none of them provide you with a backup!!!

Hope this helps.

so in essence from what i understood you would just need something like the RJM gizmo and an extra midi cable from your GSP1101

No need to sell the Control2. I use mine with an amp gizmo and it controls the amp switching flawlessly. the gsp1101 system rocks!

Killer combo...I use the GSP/Control2 with the 50w 5150III and it's the bomb...
