I can't find a local store with a 5150 III mini 50 watt to try. I listened to a bunch of samples on Youtube. I know it's not the same as actually playing one, but the amp sounds fizzy and buzzy to me. Those who own one, can you give me a better idea of what the amp actually will do? I know it'll do chainsaw metal, but can it do chugga chugga like a rectifier? Also, at 50 watts, I'm a bit concerned about volume. I have a Stiletto Ace head and it's loud as hell. I here the 5150s are worse.

I run a 5150 III 50 watt through a 412 recto cab and it thumps so hard it almost knocks you over when you chug. I think they key with that amp is not dialing in too much gain. It has SO much that it can get fizzy of your hitting the gain too hard at lower volumes. As far as loud, it will get VERY loud (very close to the 100 watter if you need that kind of volume) but will also sound pretty darn good at lower volumes as well. Real nice little amp for the money IMHO.

Just keep the presence down and match up with right speakers and it shouldn't be too buzzy or fizzy

It can do chugga well IMO but I wouldn't say it sounds like a rectifier exactly.

Crossover distortion, if you're not familiar look it up, it's the main component of the crunchy fizzy high end of these amps, it cannot be dialed out.

Neither of my 5153's are buzzy or fizzy. As others said, don't max the gain and you should be good to go.
