I bought a 5150II for cheap and the tone is OK for a super high gainer but i noticed that when the post volume on the lead channel is on zero sound still comes through?
is this common to the amps?

I think this is common, if the post volume is all the way off you might slightly hear the amp.

Oh ok thanks guys i thought the amp needed repair or something?
I never owned any amp that did this?
usually with the master or main volume is on zero there is nothing coming though if you hit a chord or a note on the guitar.
With this amp you can actually practice in a bedroom with the volume that still comes through

anyone know why these amps are like this? anyway to fix it?
it is kind of a issue for me since i want to use it like at 2am and even on zero it is a little too loud for that time of night :aww:

They just do that. I don't think there is really anything you can do, other than maybe get an attenuator.

Smaller cab? Blanket over the cab?
  thanks but i would like to fix the actual problem in the amp itself ;)

If you have a Facebook account go on the 5150III page and ask Howard Kaplan. He designed the amp and is very quick to answer questions

thanks but this is a PEAVEY 5150 II and is a totally different amp

yeah, they are pretty loud on zero at 2 in the morning. i used to run mine on a hotplate for this reason.
could pull power tubes and turn the bias down some. but you may not like how that sounds.
you could also control the volume through the loop.

Wiseblood then the amp is not in need of repair?
this is the way they all are?

Pretty much every tube amp I've had did this except my Diezel. The D-Moll is silent with the master on zero.

really? just high gain amps though right?
my marshalls, laney, randall and others never had any volume coming through when the master Vol was on zero?

I don't remember having any amps that have had this issue, including a 5150II. Maybe I just never noticed, but, I could definitely get that amp down to 2am volume with the volume almost all the way down. Shrug.

yeah i agree  any amp should turn down low enough to still be audible but not too loud to use late at night and not disturb anyone.
I guess they is something wrong in the board with this PV?

there is nothing wrong with it.
120 watt amp made to be played loud.
