Ok... So I changed out some of the no name tubes in my new 5150III this afternoon. Talk about make a huge difference! Channel 2 now has more gain available. The popping when switching channels has stopped. Channel three smoothed out a bit, and is not as fizzy. The loop no longer makes the crazy hissing noise that it was. I'm feeling much better about this amp now.
I'm still having issues with the amp playing nice with my Nova System, but have decided that since it takes pedals so well, I'll just go that route. Time to find a good delay pedal..lol!
Of the preamp tubes, seven of the eight tubes did not have a label on them. So I have no idea what those were. V6 was a JJ. None of the power tubes hare labeled. The only thing on them is a small white sticker on the base that reads "6 White BAL" So who knows...
What tubes are you guys liking in your 5150IIIs?
