6-band EQ in loop: frequencies for solo boosting?

Running a clean boost in the loop of my Dr. Z as a volume (not gain) boost for solos doesn't work quite as well with the attenuator I'm now running between the amp & speaker. So I replaced it with my MXR 6-band eq... But it's kinda tough figuring which frequencies to boost without a full band playing in the background, lol.

Anybody have experience just boosting certain frequencies to cut through, rather than boosting overall volume? Which frequencies are the most effective?

Thanx!

Awesome -- that's almost exactly what I ended up with! Good to know I'm on the right track. :D

Thanks, mang!

Maybe sounds crazy but try cutting the bass (maybe sub-300hz) and even cutting the treble a little (maybe 3k and up). Less bass means more headroom for the frequencies your boosting to be louder so the amp will be able to make you sound louder in a band mix. Loosing a little treble can smooth your lead tone a bit but that's a question of taste.
