I agree 100%. I would never pay that much but if someone else wants to, have at it. Happens all the time like with the digitech bad monkey pedal, etc. A year and a half wait for a pickup is just ridiculous.

I remember before that guy Josh from JHS pedals put out a video of the bad Monkey that you could find those all day for less than a 100 bucks and were not even that talked about of a pedal really . Funny how so many people fall for the hype and become like mindless cattle jumping on the bandwagon following the latest bullshit tend of something they think they need to become a better player.

i agree hyperinflated pricing can get crazy.

i got my pickup from tom direct for $150 in the early 00s because victor mason/mojave had a set in one of his guitars and highly recommended them as the best repro PAFs he’d heard.
at a marshall shootout 5 yrs ago we played a bunch of vintage plexis with various vintage strats, LPs, high end PRS and after a few hours, one guy pulled out a custom korina V and started playing through a 50 watt plexi and immediately i asked him what pickups were in it because they stood out.

i randomly checked out a bad monkey at GC when they were new and thought it sounded like an improved tube screamer, so $49 was a no brainer. gave it to my son who still has it.

got my tyler when it was under $2k, etc…

I like and use many of them too. D-Sonic, Super Distortion and Evolution are some of my all time fave. So are JB, Whole Lotta Humbucker, Alnico 2 Pro Humbucker, classic 81-85 set... but none of the three brands mentioned above can replicate a PAF like JM Rolph or Tom Holmes. That's fact.
