The EH6CA7 is a beam forming element tetrode tube just like the 6L6 and Sylvania 6CA7. Essentially a true beam forming element 6CA7 is a 6L6 with an EL34 pinout.I'm looking for the closest equivalent to a 6l6 that will work in an 'only' el34 amp.
To my knowledge the JJ6CA7's are still pentodes like an EL34 but they use Beam Power Pentode to describe it. If you want something that is 6L6ish check out the EH6ca7 just buy them from a reputable seller who burns them in and tests them if you can.
IMHO the EH6ca7 is quite similar to my NOS Sylvania 6CA7's and I've had great luck with them QC wise. I bought a JJ quad of 6ca7's and they were bad right of of the box.
I've also heard the new production Tung Sol's have that 6L6 character to them kind of like the old Siemens Heavy Duty EL34's. I have a pair to drop into my Cameron HG Jose to try but the 6550's are still in there.
