Hello.
I bought Peavey XXX , preamp tubes are new (tungsols) and power tubes - about year. Stock - 6L6GC.

I want to buy power tube just in case. But which ? I should stick with 6LGGC or try EL34 ? What kind of effect I will achieve with EL34 as power tubes ? And in this peavey I can just swap 6l6 and put el34 ? Of course I will buy matched quad.

Not sure on the XXX if the PT's are interchangable or not. Most amps aren't unless there's switch on the back but the EL34's will give more mids and less bottom end. The just slightly shift the tone spectrum.

yes, the XXX has that switch

apparently it sounds tighter and more aggressive with el34's

Where is that switch ?
And for what is button called "end polarity" ?

Polarity is for the ground. In case you have a grounding noise.

I don't see a switch on the back of the amp. Maybe on top or inside the chassis?

I will be in my home in 2 weeks so I can't check now ;/
For this moment - anyone know where is the switch ?

Get you some JJ kt 77s and run and bias em in the El34 setting Best of both worlds made my XXX come alive...

The switch is on top of the chassis on the left side of the amp along with the bias dial. I have an older Triple XXX so it could be different on your's assuming it's a newer version.

I have a new set of EL34B's in mine & it rips real nice.

I mean older version - silver plate , I version ( not the II or the 3120).

The above pictured is the older version (which I also have).

Thanks !

Which tubes ( I mean 6L6GC or EL34 ) you can recommend me for my peavey ?? (my cab is 2x12 loaded with V30).
Probably I will try first EL34 , and then 6L6GC.
I wish to add a bit of smoothness to my riffs and more liquid feel to solos.
I don't want to emulate Gary Holt sound , this is very close to my image of perfect tone(as I mentioned before - I want add a bit of smoothness):

EL34's always have a sweeter top end and a "less hard" response..... Always prefer them..

I used to always prefer them too but there are some amps that just like 6L6's better.

Ok , So there must be a switch.
If I put El34 instead of this 6l6gc, turn the switch to el34, I must sey bias or can I leave it be ?

You should check it no matter what you end up choosing, and you'll need a bias checking device of some kind to do so unless you have probe jacks to go direct with a meter.

Ok. Thanks.

Also I heard that people achieve good results with kt77 in this amp (the kt77 is el34 variant so they are running it in el34 mode). This tubes are safe for the amp and don;t blow anything ?

Yes, but still have to be biased for the amp. I like 77's in some things, but prefer 34's in most things ;)

It's hard to bias this peavey ? I need anything more than new tubes and bias meter ?
And which EL34 will you recommend me ? I heard a lot of positive feedback about JJEL34 or Tungsol.

As long as the adjustment provided will get you in the sweet spot, its easy.
I like SED's, I've had worse results with others, including JJ's and Tungsol's. They do cost more but they are the best made tube out there at the moment
