So I took a pair of 75hz blackbacks out of my 78’ cab and X patterned them with UK greenbacks in the 1960ax. And vice versa in the fawn straight cab. So now both cabs have the same speaker arrangement.
Guess what…..they sound just like they did before. The Blackbacks are ever so slightly warmer and a “hair” more upper mids. But the difference is barely audible when the speakers are isolated. If you are on the hunt for pricy blackbacks……just get run of the mill modern greenbacks. They are damn near identical.
