Cool colour and nice that it has an OFR but that is a lot of money for a Jackson strat with headstock damage and no neck plate..

apparently, based on your avatar pic, you know more about these than I do. I'm more of a Charvel guy. Never owned a Jackson in my life, but the price seemed fair if it was legit? The neck plate does seem weird, right? I didn't catch that headstock damage either.....

It's probably priced on the higher side even if it was undamaged and had the neckplate. The paint-job makes it stand out, but otherwise it's 'just' a Jackson strat and those don't command particularly high prices unfortunately.

This is really a cool guitar at a fair price. The pointy headstock blows it for me, but I know some of you guys don't mind.

Don't mind it? It's not a Jackson unless it has a Jackson headstock. That Adrian guitar and the PC 1....those are just better Fenders.

The guitar in question is kind of funky. It looks like a Student model or something, bolt on neck and no binding. I think it's priced way high IMHO.

You are kidding about the headstock right? The pointy c/j headstock is literally the coolest headstock made. IMHO.

No im not kidding. After you turn 50, it becomes very uncool. When i was young i played pointy all the time. Getting olds a bitch!

1985 was the transition year as USA made Charvel's were going bye bye and anything that would have been a Charvel San Dimas guitar previously was now getting a Jackson logo. Most of the transition guitars I have seen from this time have Jackson logos on the headstock but Charvel San Dimas neck plates with Charvel serial numbers. It's possible they ran out of those and they didn't have the Jackson equivalent yet.

I thought you were referring to the big chip/crack off of the headstock and not the fact that its pointy??

Guess it went over my head.

I love the color, but the messed up headstock bugs me.

Very Kramerish. Cheers, Lucius

I'd say more Charvelish. Warren had the crossed swords Charvel which basically had the same black and white background that this guitar has.

You can buy Jackson neckplates on Ebay.

which begs the question....if this is somehow not a real 85/86, then why wouldn't the guy just buy a fake neckplate and seal the fakery?

I realize that pictures on the internet are not necessarily reality but I think that guitar was a repaint. Look at the headstock, you can see the made in usa decal and the black paint looks like it came out of a spray can. Look at the Floyd inserts, they are painted as well, I am not sure they would be paint if it was a factory paint job.
