Hey guys,

I am really interested in a Fortin modded Marshall. A couple of questions:

- Based on my clips/playing style, would a Cali mod fit the bill?

- Do they go well with V30 loaded cabs?

- Does it get pretty saturated?

- Does it hold up well at low or home volumes?

I have been a Mark series player for so long that they just really fit the bill. I just want to know if it will do some of things I love about Mark amps but give me some Marshall type tones too. Any help would be appreciated!

The Cali mod is beast. Great saturation and great versatility.

You will not regret it.

It will own with V30s.

Danyeo and Gainfreak are the best sources for you imo, they are mesa nuts and now own fortin stuff.

I know I am selling my MK IV at some time to fund a production Fortin.

Make that 5 yessed LMAO :hys: !!

Being that I used to use the Mark series boogies as my main tones since 92 I can heartfully say that the Cali will make you smile from ear to ear ;)

Thanks guys! I will say that I did not mesh well with the Splawn Quick Rod so I have been a bit hesitant to go the "modded Marshall" route. I would like to make the change and would only do it if I could trade my IIC+ with a reputable and trustworthy forumite. If you ever hear of anyone that is interested in a trade like that let me know. I am very interested.

It's pretty commong knowledge by now that I don't really dig the Splawns although Vlad,Matt and Curt made me want to try them again...... but being that I am familiar with the IIC+ you will have no problems with the Fortin!!

Thanks Ralph! If you or anyone else here on the forum knows anyone who is interested in a trade please let me know. My playing style has been evolving over the past year and my tastes seem to be changing. I love the amp but I feel like I am starting to chase another amp sound.

Let me know!!!

You are very welcome and I'll keep an eye out for you! With that said, i don't think you will have any problem offloading the IIC+ if you venture over to the Boogie forum!

Can't talk about the Cali mod but the Hulk mod is not saturated.

The Cali mod i played sounded great with a v30 cab and will seriously impress you at low volumes. You will not be disappointed.

I've been a Mark IV player for years too and have been chasing the Marshall sound for something "different".

In the past two years, I've tried a DSL 50, an Egnater Seminar head, an Axe FX, a Quickrod, an XTC and just this week a Friedman kitchen Sink JMP.
By far, the Friedman has been my favorite for the classic Marshall sound...but I always come back to the Mark IV. So at least for me, the grass isn't always greener.

Anyway, here's a thought...

As a Mesa fan, I've always wanted to try a C+. You want to try a modded Marshall.

Since I've got a 2005 XTC and a Friedman Kitchen Sink JMP, we should work out a gentleman's agreement for a two/three/four week trade to test drive the amps. If either of us wants their amp back, no problem and no questions asked, we ship them back. What would it cost us...$100 shipping? A lot cheaper and easier than buying and selling $2K amps.

I know I don't have a huge post count here as I'm more of a lurker, but I've got perfect ebay feedback and could provide references.

Anyway, this would be a somewhat easy way for both of us to test some hard to get amps. We should do this!!!

Splawns are cool but the Cali mod is much better at lower volumes.

Thanks for all of the advice and suggestions. I have definitely decided to go the Fortin Cali mod route. I would like to solicit some help from all of you. If you happen to see a Marshall JMP or Super Lead for a solid price will you please let me know?? :poke: I would be able to move on one immediately. Sounds like it is exactly what I would be looking for to compliment my playing style.

Thanks again guys! Best forum on the net!!
