A Klon too expensive? Check this out!

So, I can't afford a Klon. Well, who can? While searching the net, I found an alternative: the Meta Driver by Often FX. It is a pedal based off of a Klon Centaur, but with some very cool tweaks. The most obvious being the tiny enclosure and the true bypass/ buffer toggle switch.

I have never played a Klon before, but this pedal is sick! Before I knew better, I thought this was your basic OD pedal, but it's so much more. You can actually leave it on all the time like an Echoplex Preamp and it just makes everything sound fatter! Just turn down the gain to 0 and set volume and tone to your liking. It does tend to boost the amp a little, but in a very pleasant way.

You can also use it as a standard OD, and it kills at that as well.

Sounds pretty damn good. Your description correlates with the way I feel about my Klon. I keep it on all the time, for the same reasons. Volume at about 11:00, Treble at about 12:00, and I found that it sounds even better if you put the gain up just a little bit-think it adds a little more with the gain turned up just a little bit. I wonder if this thing would have the same effect?

JHS used to make a great Klon clone too, but I believe they're discontinued now and probably cost too much like the original.

This one looks promising, but I need to stop buying pedals!!!! I have an unhealthy obsession.

There are allot of Klones out there. PCE Aluminum Falcon, Monsterpiece Stud, Arc Effects, and several more. TGP has allot of threads on these. For boosting these are tops.

Actually they had an understanding with the Klon creator : once the reissue appears, they stop making it.

I really have to try a Klon (-like) one day...
