I see you have a Rootbeer Jem! I still have mine that I bought in the late 80's. Nice collection!

That is what I keyed in on as well, killer JEM!

Great wall there James, loven the mass quantities of marshalls

NICE!!! More of a collection of gear, than a rig though, unless I am missing something-- which is entirely possible.

Could it be there are more guitars under the rug? :D

Nice colection... Just out of curiosity if you had to ditch all that keep only one guitar and one amp which would it be?

Very nice!

My buddy had a pink strat like that. He called it teh Stratoclitster, or The Clitster for short lol. I tried buying it off him a few times but he wouldn't give up the Clit! It was an '89 Fender Strat Plus with teh gold lace sensors if memory serves me right.

Now that JEM (or RG) Ibanez you have there....didn't Vai have one exactly like that with that huge cutout? Please tell me you own one of Vai's old guitars! lol

Awesome rig/collection!

Sorry to hijack the thread...
I have been told that the Rootbeer Jems were a prototype and that only a handful were made, a guy who worked a Ibanez during the 80's told me that, but I have not been able to confirm. I know I have only seen a couple around since 1989 when I bought mine. I recently saw a N.O.S for sale on a website for around $6000..
It is a really cool guitar, I just put some MCP "Detroiters" in mine and am loving it all over again.
The trem is just awesome, I cannot knock it out of tune, even with MAJOR whammy abuse..

Nice rig James, the only thing you need now is. :D

Well as a session guy this is my rig. This what I use on a daily basis to make music. I guess not a rig in a tradition rack'o'stuff sense...

No offense intended... Hopefully, none taken. I just saw several "rigs", not a cohesive single rig, in the pedal board or rack sense.

Answer a few posts,
Why no Mesa cabs:
I actually used only Mesa cabs for years and just needed a change. I found the Mesa cabs imparted a pretty strong sonic imprint on whatever amp and guitar went through them. They have a serious midrange tone that I could here on ever record so I kind of wanted a change and found the Marshall cabs for whatever reason seem a little more transparent to my ears and let the different amps sound a little more unique.

Axe-FX:
I've never really used it, I've heard great things about it but I think I have a negative view of rack gear with banks of sounds from growing up in the 70's and 80's and always hating that kind of gear and having bad experiences with Line6. But I do need to give Axe-FX a go because I've heard from so many people that it is amazing.

If I could only have 1 guitar and amp:
Easy! Black Paul/'71 Marshall. My black Les Paul Standard is my favorite guitar on earth to play.

Cool to see that silver LTD baritone guitar again, I was tempted to keep it for myself but I am glad you got it, have you recorded anything with it?

We use it all the time. Jerry from Luxxtone put every pickup on earth in it till he finally put an old Duncan Custom I had taken out of my Black Paul years earlier and she sounded like gold with the Custom. Just the right amount of output. Thanks for the great purchase.

2001. I'm glad you're digging yours.

Sweet! Good to see the AC30 Heritage representing. That head and its cab would look even better here, with me! ;)

Very cool, James!
