Just messing around at the house. The volume was down so that my iPhone wouldn't clip. I start out on Channel 2, with the gain maxed. For those of you who own the 5153, does this sound like the maxed gain level on your channel 2? Moving to channel 3, I have the gain around 1:00. Typically for what I do it's usually between 1:00 and 1:30 and I have plenty of gain to play with. Still getting used to the Suhr Aldrich in the bridge of my Les Paul. So far I dig it. With that said, the Tone Zone that I have in my Schecter sounds divine through this amp. Please pardon the sloppy playing. Anyway... thanks for checking the clip out. Let me know what you think.

Joel

Added another clip with my Schecter with a Tone Zone in the bridge...

Nice Kingdom Come riff there. :) I have that song on my iPOD.

Sounds great! I used to have an EVH 5150-III years ago but I think something was wrong with it. I could never get a great tone out of it. I think I'm going to pick up a 50-watt version in the next few months possibly.

Sounds great! V30's in the Mesa cab? You wouldn't think they're a good match with the 5150 III but they actually work, especially for tracking.

I have one. Sounds pretty normal to me. I have been rolling tubes thru mine a lot lately just to see how flexible the amp is. I kinds like a lower output tube in V1 since the amp has so much gain and it takes an OCD boost like it was made for it.

I like a heritage or greenie best with mine over a std Marshall 75 cab.

Have you tried it with a single coil and a compressor on ch 1? It is a very flexible amp.

Did you put blue LED lights in there?

I liked the clip. Really liked it when you kicked on the lead channel.
Seemed to hop to life....the dynamics....etc..
Really want to check one out someday.

Thanks guys! Channel two sounds good when I listen back to it, but channel three feels so much better under my fingers. It does feel more alive. As for the V30s, I'm living with them for now until I can afford to buy the EVH 412. To me the 5153 is overly bright with the V30s. Then again, I like a very dark tone. Lol. To me it always sounds better in clips than when I'm in front of the amp. I've played it with greenies and really liked the sound of them. So I can't wait to get the EVH cab.

And yes.. I put blue LEDs in the head shell. Looks cool on stage. Although now that I'm currently bandless... it just looks cool at my house..lol!

Both channels sound very good to my ear.

   Do You Like It + Sun King

Sounds killer my man!!

I still think that cab sounded better then greenies.

That was "Do You Like It" by Kingdom Come. Love that song. I've tried to cover it a few times, but have never found a band that will let me. lol

sounds great!
I really llike that cab with the EVH. I think the Mesa sounds better in a band mix and for recording than the EVH cab. The EVH cab doesn't sound as up-front as the Mesa. However, I do agree that the V30's brighten things up with the amp. I keep the highs below noon most of the time.

So, did you quit the band or did you kick the "new" members out?

Thanks! I quit the situation before it got ugly. I'm gonna take a short break to write, and then start looking for a drummer and bass player. We'll see what happens. As far as cabs go, so far my favorite with a band setting was a Peavey 5150 cab. Rolled just enough highs off to warm the amp up a bit. I still want the EVH cab though. I'll keep the Recto for when I need that tone. And because one of these days I'll pick up another Trem-O-Verb head.

I enjoy playing Chanel 3 more regardless or how it sound. They are both awesome channels. The amp sounds really good through g12h30's though.

Sounds awesome and nice playing. And yes, do pick up the matching cab. They sound REALLY good together. I'm still super tempted to swap out the EVH speakers for Lynchbacks once the 16ohm version of them come out though...

I thought I would add a clip with the Tone Zone for comparison. While the Schecter is definitely a lower end guitar compared to my Les Paul. I really like the way it plays and sounds. It a mahogany body with a maple cap. Rosewood board with a maple neck. Enjoy!

amp sounds killer, my channel 2 sounds the same, interesting the Aldrich sounds great in your LP, i found it too bright in mine and was surprised that the JB was much fuller.

i think the v30s work with this head well, but for my taste the Creambacks are nicer and have more character.

great playing too!
