A solid & great 2x12??

My votes in order

Mesa Recto 2x12 for rock
Genz Benz ported 2x12 for metal
Fender 2x12 for blues

I have all three of these cabs and there's not one bad thing about them. I would say the most versatile is the recto
 
Lots of love for the Mesa recto..... they're not to woofy or bassy for rock?? Im not a metal guy. I can get a recto, splawn 2x12 for around same price. Heard good things about the Splawns. ? :confused:

Never tried the Splawn. The Mesa isn't too woofy, it's more punchy.
About size...I can fit it in the back seat of my Honda Civic 4 door no problem. Haven't tried the trunk, but I think it could almost fit there as well. The Mesa Horizontal would probably fit and you could just set it on it's side for gigs if you wanted.

i had a Mesa Recto vertical 2x12, and it was definitely woofier and less defined than my Bogner OS2x12. i chalked it up to the back of the Mesa being thinner wood and the Mesa having no center post inside to keep the back from moving in and out.

now, the Recto horizontal 2x12 i've heard better things about. it is smaller, so the back is better supported than the big wide back on the vertical.
 
Look for a used Carvin vertical slant 2x12. Often overlooked and has it all: projects to you as your 4x12 did, solidly built, sounds great, small footprint and is cheap. Perfect cab for small stages.
 
The Dr Z is a terrific cab. If it were my money I'd probably go with an Avatar with my fave speakers and save a little money. Great cabs.
 
As things stand right now.. I think I may go Splawn OS2x12. Seem solid, built in house, good quality and reviews.. and in my price range.
