You are dropped off, blindfolded in the middle of the Amazon rainforest with nothing but the clothes on your back. You must survive 60 days. The only intel you are provided is any indigenous tribe within a 200 mile radius considers outsiders extremely hostile.

You are provided the choice of one item that may help you to survive.

1. A Ruger 10/22 with 10 bullets
2. A Black Powder Cannon, with one cannonball
3. A 4 year old, fully trained German Shepard
4. 12 M67 grenades

Which of these would you choose, and why?

I would take the German Shepard. If I get to a point of starving to death, I can always eat it.

Besides, .22s worthless. 1 cannonball? Worthless. 12 grenades comes in a close second but you can't eat them.

The grenades...nothing like parts flying around and they may think you're a magical God with fire power and leave you alone.

I hate german shepherds so that's out. A .22 with only 10 shells is a waste of time. The grenades seem mostly useless, as does a cannon with one cannonball.

If I can substitute a black mouth cur for the german shepherd that's my choice. Can hunt anything including small village people, lives on next to nothing, stinks like an absolute nasty crotch, but loyal a.f and built for hunger games. I used to give her canadians to gnaw on for toys.

Well I'd want a German Shepherd my own self.

None of these would help you survive. I would suggest not being an asshole and making friends with the local people. Otherwise you're simply dead out there.
You’re a survivalist now ?

For the record, almost all survivalists agree the .22 is an excellent weapon for apocalyptic end of the world shit. For a lot of reasons. The curveball in this scenario is the 10 rds. thing. You could fit a couple hundred rounds in a typical front pocket of your blue jeans.

I might prefer a bolt action here, but I'm going with the .22 anyway
Hard to keep that semi-auto action clean for 2 months with the amount of humidity & rain that will happen in those 2 months.

I have north of 5,000 rounds of .22 ammo on hand. It was cheap (at the time) and seemed like a good investment. I had to buy CCI Mini Mags because the stupid Ruger jams with “dirtier” ammo…

Yeah, in my experience I would wonder how many of those .22 rounds were duds.

I’ve never had a problem with “duds”. They’re stored inside in waterproof cases. Should be good? I guess I’ll find out if/when the zombie apocalypse hits 😀
It could have been the rifles, 2 semi-autos i was checking out for my son. Cleaned them thoroughly and loaded about 15 rounds in each....about every 4th round misfired.
Back to the drawing board...
