This is exactly what I heard in the room at the NY ampshow. Im just posting this because there have been people wondering why Dave and I didn't dig it. I can't answer for Dave but this is what I heard and based my decision on at the time

This is not a dig on the Axe-fx. Im only posting this because I have been getting a lot of guys asking me why I didn't like the unit when I heard it and I only had this as a referance.

There are so many post spraising the thing by people I respect so I know that this thing could probably kill, but when people start asking me a question and then thinking Im ragging on the thing just to rag on it, It kind of gets under my skin.

i admit i dont' much care for most of the axe-fx vids i've seen or clips i've heard...but i have heard some that did impress me...i think being able to tweak it/dial it in is key...as is with most amps...i'm just getting too old and have a lack of patience...i'm into a more straight forward setup now...for those that love the axe fx i am proud for them and once again...i have heard some good clips..it's just not for me. If i personally was gonna drop 1500-2000 bucks on an amp it would probably say splawn on it....but that's just me

I agree with you. I think that the axe-fx is a great piece of gear (just wanted to clear that up) But because of all the hype some people were questioning why I didn't like it, so I felt the need to show them what I heard.

To be honest with you,I have not heard one clip yet that has wowed me. Im glad that people are happy and that's all that counts.

I've just recently started to hear some clips that impressed me and that's what finally put me over the edge. Before then, not so much. Your youtube vid reminded me of another one I saw of Peavey demoing Revalver at NAMM. The jackass that was demoing it (the Peavey rep) had the cab before the amp. It sounded like ass in a mason jar, and he had no idea. Everybody's like WTF...I guess my point being that everything can sound bad in the wrong context. It's a shame when mfgr's can't put their product in the right context to demo it...

I guess for the same reason why you post clips after people have negative things to say about the unit


In all honesty, I just wanted people to see why I said what I said about the unit.

I have experienced the axe nazi's too, ha and I have an Axe FX.

So many threads about this thing its sick, good for exposure I guess. I think its a great box, but those who make it out to be the saviour of guitar tone, I just don't get, and those who think it sucks, I just don't get either.

I am somewhere in the happy middle. I still have my rack gear, and I still have the axe. Its ok if you didn't like it, and if you gave it a thorough try out, then you don't have to like it, thats whats so great about gear and our individual tastes, if we all liked the same thing, it might get plenty bland.

What I have noticed listening to company demos, and when I went through the presets, is that alot of them were overdone, using too much efx, tricky stuff and the like, nothing about pure tone. I see this in this demo video. Use of Digital wah's, harmonizers, and the like, overdone, which from what I understand, is supposed to give an idea about what it can do, but for those tone junkies, its a major turnoff as it just screams modeler and digital. I believe Fractal has thus since updated its presets..

However, if you dig in, its possible to get some nice usuabale stuff from the axe, and it can simplify alot of things
