The phone is a necessity...and for $1200 it makes zero sense imo.

You do realize this is real hardware in the cloud right? With real converters. Also 100$ a month may be worth it for someone spending hours on this gewr but most people might only spend a few hundred to finish a project. Hell you could work that into your studio fee and have the clients foot it.

I have posted about them before and I honestly think that people think they are modelling analog gear and they think, why wouldn't i just own the plugins myself?
