 A steal at $150. Awesome flexibility. GREAT tone. Easy to use. Very 'hot-rodded Marshall'-type preamp. They can be a bit on the noisy side on high gain settings, so you may look for a mod or throw a noise gate in the loop. Pair it with a good tube power amp and fx unit and you have a KILLER rig. I used an MP-1 for years as my main rig and it never let me down.

I have a peavey 50/50 poweramp for it. I"m looking for a high gain tone wich mod to make.

the marshall mod

i recently paid 100$ for one though. so keep that in mind.

How does the marshall mod sounds, how heavy can it get.

heavy, tight and cutting. think paul gilbert from his intense rock 1 and 2 vids...with that nasty but good, biting presence (which you can dial out)

do some youtube research..there's a ton of vids of it.
there's also a FB ada-mp1 page where the schematics/directions to do the mods on these are all posted somewhere on the page. you gotta dig around a bit.

my old guitar teacher lent me his mp-1 and it had the marshall mod. i loved it. i got mine, but left it stock, as im trying to figure out a way to route some switchable mods (the recto and marshall) into it without hacking the original unit all up. i've got a good idea of how im going to do this, i just haven't had the time to start it.

one mod i will be doing shortly is the rear input conversion mod.

you can pm me if you want..i have all the mods that were up on the old ada depot page. or i can just email them to you if you wish. i think for starters though, you should play yours for a few weeks and see what you like/dont like or would like to change about it b4 modding it. maybe then start messing with different preamp tubes. thats the stage im currently in, preamp tube swapping. i will tell you off the bat though, EVERYWHERE i read said that the mp1 loves JJecc83s pre amp tubes..and they were all dead on the money. i even like them in both slots over the following: amperex bugle boy, rft, various mullards, and some various other modern tubes. for some reason the JJ ecc83s just adds "more" to these units along the lines of eq'able gain, at least to my ears and fingers. so far, i keep a/b ing against the JJs with the other tubes i've been trying. chinese 12ax7b silver dragons also sound really good in there, as did 1 sovtek LPS in v1 and a mullard cv4024 in v2.
but i just keep going back to the JJ tubes.

also, there are a few trimpots inside that you can tweak to your liking...IIRC 2 for gain, and one for the chorus depth.

Yeah great info yeti! I wish I had that info back when I had the MP-1.

circled in red and flourescent green is the input stage gain trimpot. this is accessed by removing the top panel of the rack unit.

this right here may be all the mod you need to up your gain, once you settle on (or even before, but i'd mess with it after and before LOL!) what types of preamp tubes you'll want in it.

i have some other stuff i'll dig up for you if you want.

if you do open your mp1, be careful taking the top and bottom, panels off because there is a lip on both the top and bottom of the front panel that helps keep all the panels flush. Pull the panels out from the back of the unit, don’t lift them out once you remove the small screws that holds both top and bottom panels on.

wtf! pics aren't uploading.

you can see on the top right of the pic, there's a trimpot there also circled in yellow. im not sure what this one does, but i will find out. also, if you do open the mp1, the trimpot in the middle, off to the left of center (but to the right middle of the other two pots) controls the chorus ( i think it controls the overall mix level).

good luck. let me know what else you want. like i said, i have all the mods for this.

you can get the marshall or "mod4 mark 2" mod there.

he also has a ton of other replacement parts/upgrades.
i understand he's really good to deal with. im going to get the upgraded transformer and the kit for it.
