ADA MP-1 Preamp - sold
Vintage 1992 ADA MP1 tube guitar preamp. Rare final circuit board layout (revision G) loaded with the latest v2.01 Artist firmware. Loaded with a pair of sought-after Beijing 12AX7 preamp tubes.
This preamp is in perfect working order (working battery and front/rear input jack) and has none of the common issues that pop up in these units—earlier models have a fragile proprietary front input jack and a line-level rear instrument input that requires modding to be used with guitar. Has the expected scratches of a rack unit this old, but overall very good condition with straight rack ears.
The built-in chorus and compression make for lovely cleans, while the dual overdrive controls allow a wide range of mid- and high-gain tones to be dialed in.
This is the classic unit used by Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, Skid Row, Rammstein, Queensryche, Primus, Racer X, Death, Cynic, and more.

Revision G Characteristics:
- Mature Circuit Refinement: As the last board revision produced by A/DA, the Revision G benefits from accumulated factory tweaks to the signal path and component layout, ironing out quirks found in earlier board runs (A–F).
- Tight Low-End and High-Gain Response: Players and collectors note that the Rev G delivers a more focused, tight low-end and strong high-gain performance compared to earlier versions.
- Natural Saturation: It is often credited with a more organic-feeling tube saturation right out of the box while retaining the signature cascading dual 12AX7 gain stages and solid-state/tube "Tri-State Voicing".
- Compatibility with v2.01 Firmware: Many Rev G units are paired with the late v2.01 "Artist" software/EEPROM chip, which optimizes MIDI mapping and system
- MIDI Programmable: Stores 128 presets for instant recall, controlled via MIDI.
- Tube Preamp: Utilizes 2 x 12AX7 preamp tubes for a warm, tube-driven tone.
- Tri-State Voicing: Offers three distinct voicings for each program: Distortion Tube, Clean Tube, and Solid State.
- EQ and Presence Control: Features an EQ section designed to emulate Fender and Marshall sounds, with a Presence control for further tone shaping.
- Stereo Chorus: Includes an analog stereo chorus circuit for adding depth and dimension to the sound.
- Serial Effects Loop: Allows for integration of external effects pedals and rack gear.
- MIDI Control: MIDI IN, OUT, and THRU ports for seamless integration with MIDI setups.
