Not much mention of the ADA MP-1. I never had one, but some of my all-time favorite 80-90's tones came from that box.

Nuno B (Extreme - Pornographiti)
Vito B (White Lion - Big Game)
Paul G (Mr. Big)
Skid Row (1st Record)
Alex Skolnick (Testament - Practice What You Preach)
Metallica (Black)

Does that box not hold up in 2009?

It sounds very "80s rack"-ish to me. I used to own one, and I had it modded later on with the Mod 4 Mk II mod. I sold it because I didn't really use it that much. I'd like to get another stock one sometime though.

i had one for ~2 months. i did the 3TM mod to it. you gotta have a great poweramp for it to sound its best otherwise it sounded thin slaved through a lower end power amp like a 5150.

i was gonna hang onto it to finish a rack rig, but had to sell the ADA for medical bills :(

i thought it was cool. but theres better out there now. i personally like a voodoo modded JMP-1

I used one back in the day. They are VERY noisey. So much so, that I could not get my noise gate to close. Of course I had the gain dimed. They were very versitile, but there are a lot better options out there now imo.

I owned one for a few years.
Was nailing the Vito tone out of it.
But like everything else I owned..........SOLD!!

I'm kind surprised there isn't a MTS module, or Line 6 models based on it. It's a very under appreciated voice of the 80's.

I read ADA is coming back out on to the market this year or next year..
They even have a site but I forget the addy for it..

edit here it is the link
http://www.adaamps.com/

From what I read a classic Mp-1, but they were trying to source the exact parts that were used in the original..
Then I read something that they mentioned a MP-3 modern voiced version..

I played with a lot of other guitar players that used those and sounded good but I could never get the sound that I wanted from one..

I have a Voodoo Modded MP-1 and run it with a Mesa 295 power amp on the odd gig when I'm not bringing my NASA rig (TSL100/DSL100/VHTPittbull45) to my more 80's metal gigs or when stage space is at a premium. It sounds great and I'll never sell it.

Lately I've been doing a half assed solo toward the end of our set where it's kindof a compilation with licks from Mr. Scary, Attitude Song, Eruption, some Skid Row and some crap pentatonic wanking and then we go right into "Yankee Rose" from David Lee Roth. My sound is definately there with the MP-1 although I need to work on the playing or cut back on the drinking...ha ha (Good excuse to step on the wah)
