I'm trying to sell my business and move up north to run a company position and make more money and start fresh with a new beginning. I just added up the money I've put towards paying off credit card debt over the past 3 weeks and it's nearly $4100 I've dedicated to paying off the debt to boost my score and better my future. I'm just sitting here thinking that I could have instead bought a Cornford that I've always wanted, plus another sweet ass USA Charvel or similar guitar and had some of the stuff I've wanted for a very very long time. Alas, being a big boy and making adult decisions is hard :( lol

Maybe next year I can get that Cornford...

I hear ya, man!

I was broke the majority of my life and didn’t get my shit together until about 5 years ago, started getting everything on track financially and then a divorce came, which actually put more money in my pocket after selling my house, so I went apeshit for a couple years and bought whatever I wanted, then recently slammed the breaks as I realized if I kept it up, I’d be living paycheck to paycheck. At this point in life, there’s quite literally no one I could turn to to borrow a dime if need be, so no gear for me for a while until that bank account gets a little healthier!

Though I must say, the resilience to impulses does feel pretty good. The first 35 years were all about acting on those impulses, so I’ll enjoy this for a while until my mid-life crisis hits!

Totally, completely understand ?

Adulting can be tough sometimes, especially when it comes to making responsible financial decisions. I'm new on this forum, but I wanted to chime in and offer some encouragement. It's important to prioritize your long-term goals over short-term pleasures, like buying a guitar or other material items. And who knows, maybe once you achieve financial stability, you'll be able to treat yourself to those things you've been dreaming of!

Yeah it sucks. My wife spends more than that every month on credit cards. It’s sickening and I have no idea what she buys. Of course when I mentioned getting Sixers season tickets, she gave me a look. ??‍♂️. Can’t make this shit up.

Got my season tickets today ?

I completely Understand. I Had Decent Money in my bank accounts up until December of 2019. in 2019 i was able to take 3 vacations with my wife to NYC and stay in nice hotels, eat at nice places. Then in December her mother was Dianosed with Dementia & had no end of life savings (she's on a fixed income) & very little money we came to find out. So since Decemeber of 2019 we have been taking care of her & paying all her bills & now i'm broke. By broke i mean i can afford my bills & hers but i'm not able to take a vacation nor am i able to buy anything "Extra" like a new amp or guitar. I'm not even able to buy concert tickets. I have to rely on friends that work at different clubs to get me in. I've never been that guy to take advantage of "Hook Ups".

If your going into debt buying guitar gear, your doing life wrong.

I’ve been there. Certainly not saying I’m better than anyone, but the best thing you can do to improve your life and your finances are to pay off ALL your debt and keep it that way.

You’ll sleep better. Trust me.

@rosariozander4 I thought I banned you on the 19th.

Here's the message I left you here after your 3 days (I gave you 5 actually) to show me you're not a ? were up:

7 reactions and 2 replies since you joined last week, all in a thread about pets... and your avatar is animals?

You know this is a gear forum, right?

How do you want me to show it to you?
How do I want you to show me you're not a bot? Priceless!

Tell ya what's even-better:
The first pic of what I'm supposed to believe is your dog happens to be sprawled across the internet. I see at least 13 different sites are hosting it, most of them Russian. You're from Miami, right?

Sorry. Epic fail.

Bant. :banhim::gethim:

The fact that you didn't even bother to reply or defend your supposed "organic" composition adds yet more weight to my contention that you're a ?.

In light of this, you're bant yet-again! :gethim:

That’s actually not the best thing. There is a much better advantage to carrying “healthy” debt (low rate mortgage, car payments, etc.) and having cash than being debt free with no cash.

No cash? Who said that.

I think life is a series of spending if you can and being prepared for when you can't. I never thought in a million years that I'd have a bunch if guitars, tube amps and pedals one day, back when I was an airman with one guitar and a small combo amp.

I got a divorce in 2017 and that took a nice cut out of my money and will continue for the rest of my life. As mentioned, I had a bit of a boost for awhile and spent and then it dropped. So is life. I try not to take things for granted. I've had friends have cancer diagnosis out of nowhere and instantly have ridiculous bills. I'm convinced there really isn't much any of us can do but just appreciate our gear while we have it.

If I lost a bunch of money, I'd be happy with one or two solid guitars and one amp. I'm glad i have a few now but I could live with just one.

Buying things on credit is ok for 30 days. Only thing I have interest on is my office note. If you can’t pay it within the monthly interest cycle; let it go. My 2 cents. My ex bought everything she possibly could and more. I swallow my tongue thinking about how much she spent daily. It’s unfathomable. Took years to correct it. And none of what she bought was good for me. Fucking shoes and purses bullshit. My income couldn’t fill the bucket quick enough. I had 2 guitars and an amp. But I couldn’t play or go on vacations and enjoy because I was bleeding money for years. So I just chopped off the head of the beast aka divorce and that was that. Btw money and things have never made me happier in life. Things are just easier if you control the money spigot going out.
