Adulting and being responsible sucks :(

I have always been responsible. However, after my divorce I found myself flush with cash and was living in a small apartment. I drove a company car, had low bills and plenty of disposable income. At one time I had like 12 guitars then and could get whatever I wanted. Then I got remarried and bought a house etc. Company car went away and now I can only do 1 major gear purchase a year. Now my money goes into fixing house shit and that is boring as hell and not fun. I just had a deck repair that popped up 3 weeks ago and cost me 1500.00. So much fun!
Dude you sound like me!! I got in hot water with my wife one time because an Amazon truck drove by and I asked her if the sight of the truck made her want to pull her pants down. I got "the" look. Then my stepson drinks 4000 Dr. Peppers a week. He'll say "there is nothing to drink" and then I tell him they invented this thing called water.

Man it took a lot for me to grow the F up.. I did pretty well with a band back in the mid 2000's and ended up with a decent Indy record deal, touring, video in rotation
I developed that sense of entitlement and that was hard to shake. now 20 years later I have four kids, two in college, four car payments, house, bills.. you guys get it.
Now a big spend for me seems to be 800-1500 bucks. I have a TON of killer gear so that is no biggie. I sometimes miss the days of being able to drop 3k and tell everyone around to F**K off if they did not like it

One plus though folks.. I have two sons who BOTH play guitar. I am able to slide junk under the radar and just tell the wife it is for one of them.. but again.. pedal here, pickups there type of stuff. my wife would never believe me if I brought home a 3k guitar and just kept it in their rooms haha.

And yea like Legend 71 talked about house repair... I got a love letter from my HOA that our paint is not up to their shitty ass code, so we are about to drop 4k getting our house painted in three weeks. Adulting can have its suck days, that is for sure.

As my brother always says: We all make choices.......hahah

Pay your big boy bills on time but put aside a gear fund and try and use only that gear money for more gear. Also trading gear for more gear is something I regularly do. Holding on to good guitar gear is a plus.
