I gig with an Orange Super Crush 100 combo and sounds awesome. Loud enough for shows at just 11 o'clock on the volume.

I am considering getting an Orange Gain Baby or Dual Baby for gigging. I've thought about getting a 2x12 or another 1x12 but would like something light and compact. Here are some things im considering. As a sidenote, the Orange amps are 100 watts at 8 ohms mono or 70 watts at 16 ohms mono. If I do two 16 ohm cabs, I'll be at 100 watts:

- 1x12 V30 Orange 16 ohm cab to go with my EVH 16 ohm cab

- 2x12 Orange cab with V30s. Only 16 ohm and heavier than my current combo

- 1x12 Mesa Thiele or similar 90 to 100 watt 8 ohm cab.

My combo works awesome but the Gain Baby has more cab connect options, has different voicing options, etc. I can even use it as a backup.for gigs.

I can't help you here other than offering general enthusiasm for what you are trying. I have wanted an Orange Pedal Baby since I tried one, mostly for home use. That thing kicked ass. Pair it with a nice preamp. Excited to see where you take this!!!

May want to check out some avatar cabs, as well. Mine are way lighter than my old orange 2x12 while sounding great and usually less $. Plenty made with with v30s or v30 combinations.

I can't speak to the others but I had a few Thiele cabs that sounded great. They didn't have that boxy 1x12 feel to them at all. One had an EVM12L and the other had the Mesa C90. The EVM was about 10% better sounding to my ear but the C90 was fine.

It seems you like both the visual aesthetic and tone of the Orange cabs. If you went with the 2x12 you can always swap in two 16 ohm or two 4 ohm speakers, and wire it up at 8 ohms.

I almost bought one from LP Freak a few months ago but wasn't the best timing and I had other things I needed. He said they are awesome cabs! Yeah that might be a great option. I imagine a 90 watt handling could handle a 100 watt transistor amp.

Tbt the internal dimensions on the 2x12 are not that big. Even Orange 4x12's are not oversized cabs, just thick, and built like tanks. My '72 Hiwatt SE412, long gone Bogner 4x12B, and Avatar Vintage 4x12 are bigger cabs. They're taller, and just as deep or deeper. The SE412 inparticular is a beast of a cab. The only possibly bigger 4x12 cabs I've seen up close are the OS Recto 4x12 and Marshall Mode 4.

I have never been able to get along with mine. On the third set of speakers. I want to like it but it sounds flattened and boxy or something. I don't get anywhere close to the same resonance and bass as my 4x12's even though it's damn big (And heavy).

I'm with you. even when i gigged with an AD30 i ended up preferring a 1960av to the ppc cab. Just sounded less flat.

Can't beat a Thiele 1x12. I happen to really dig the MC90 - Very balanced across the board, and the cab itself brings a lot of punch.

Another great cab is the Friedman 1x12's. I have 2 with the Creamback 65's, and they are punchy as hell too. Great, high quality cabs. Kinda pricey, but I got both at a nice discount new.

I've heard that from a handful of people.

They do seem to play better with some amps than others; at home I have my Mark V 25 hooked to one, and my 50w Badlander on another in our band room. They fit both of those perfectly, but with my Splawn I didn't love them as much.
