I wont say that I'm on a diet but I changed the way I'm eating and living. Brad said a really great way to look at the way you eat by saying "if it doesn't come out of the ground or it doesn't have a mother I dont eat it" thats really a great statement Brad, and thats what I've been living by!! I've been very disgusted with the way I've become a fat pig so I started on Feb 3rd and as of this morning I've dropped 32lbs and I'm well on my way! I was as heavy as 325 but when I started this I was at 318 I'm 6'2". It sucked at 1st but now I'm used to eating lighter meals and eating 6 times a day. I'm doing a little lifting and very little cardio so far as I'm working to much but I'm going to start the cardio. My goal is to get down to 230 and stay below 240 at all times. I'm very motivated and seeing the results so far help even more I was a tight 44 or a loose 46 and now a 42 waist! Thanks for the sucess story Brad!!

Yeah my gut is to damn big. Tired of carrying it around. I gotta start eating better

Just make sure you're eating enough or else a lot of what you're losing will be lean body mass, not just fat.

You definitely have the right idea though - sustainable lifestyle changes are always better than diets.

Wow, I am glad my journey is leading you to yours. It is amazing how good being in great shape feels. I wish that for you and anyone else struggling with weight. At my peak I had gotten up to 375lbs at 6'4" inches. Started Sept 1 changing my life and I am almost to my goal of 205 lbs. (Currently 218 lbs).

I am going to start a sticky thread in the Off Topic in section for anyone who wants get involved in getting in shape with before (heavy) and after shots showing progress so you can be accountable which is helpful.

We can help each other get there together.

You can change everything right now.

I started a low fat,low cholesterol regime late last month and I have lost 25 lbs. so far.I wasn't that overweight (I'm 5'11" and was 221 lbs. now down to 196 lbs.) but the doc said my cholesterol was a little high.My family does have a history of heart problems so I decided to change how I eat and live.I certainly have much more energy and just feel overall healthier.

Wow, 32 lbs lost is quite an accomplishment! Keep it up brother!

edit-and Projectx, good work on the 25 lbs!

I'm 6'1 or so and about 190 lbs. For years I was 150 lbs and pretty ripped, but now I have a little gut going. I should start working out and eating better before it gets out of control.

You will simply lose alot of weight by drinking water only and cutting out all the sodas and juices.

That is what I did and lost about 30 pounds, plus I started watching how much I eat, cutting out fast food etc.

First time since high school I am below 200lbs and did I mention girls actually talk to me now.

Congrats on your success. Both of you.. Eating well is important. Combine that with a good exercise program and the results can be stagrering. Dieting does not work in the long run, that is proven. Lifestyle change is the key.

It may sound cheesy, but the fitness Program Power 90 is amazing and works so well. Follow that program and you will be in for a total transformation that lasts. At the age of 41, I lost 35 pounds in 90 days. and that was 2 years ago with no weight regain since.. Not only that, but I added lean muscle mass and increased strength and flexibility. Also my cholesterol dropped by 80 points and my blood pressure went form 140 over 90 to 120 over 72.. oh yeah and my insomnia went away.
All the while eating about @3000 calories a day of good healthy food. The key is the hard work to keep you body and metabolsim revved up..

Hard work works better than eating skimpy and the results achieved will last..

My big diet change is I dropped Pepsi (and all forms of pop) - exceptions being when I'm at a restaraunt and am eating-in, which isn't often.

For the most part, I've subbed pop with V8 Mango-Peach as my go-to sweet-drink (or milk, or some other kind of V8 fruit drink)...except meals, with which I drink 1% milk (went from 2% to skim, couldn't do it - I love chocolate milk, and skim chocolate milk is nasty! (though w/ powdered milk it's not bad!)). I ran out of crystal light that I was drinking at work, so I've just been doing without.

I feel like I'm dropping weight, but I've not hit a scale yet. I've not changed too much else diet-wise. I'm also in a band again, so, I should be shedding some weight (or at least trading off fat=>muscle, or preventing muscle loss) - I pound fluids while I play, mostly gatorade. I'll be switching that off to crystal light soon though, so that should keep calorie intake down...

I know I still eat too much at one meal (I eat twice/day - lunch/dinner). Phase 1 is dropping pepsi and caffeine addiction. I has that kicked. Second Phase is portion control...and it's an epic issue to overcome. Phase 3 will be going more and more towards water. That will be even more epic. Nealy 32 years of averting water (and I'm 32 in April)...that will be nearly impossible.

Congrats man!!

I started a diet on the 1st of the year as well.
Started out at 230. Down to 215. I know that 15 pounds in 2 months aint the worlds record but I feel better.
Goal is 195. Try to hit that by June.
Day at a time and cut out all the junk food.
Still drink on weekends but hey......I still like to have fun!!

Thanks for the words! Its funny you bring up girls talking to you because thats the main motivation on this. I'm divorced now and I'm ready to start dating and right now the kind of girl I can attract and the ones I want to attract are completely different!!!! :D I got a long way to go but just losing the 32 so far really makes a difference in work and my energy level!!

Dude thats great. My brother is a pro body builder just took 3rd at the Olyimpia. I was heavily into it for about 6 years. My best advice to you is to do CARDIO. The cardio is what is going to take the weight off. The first 2 weeks you are going to lose mostlly water weight, then the weight loss will slow down. Eat low carbs and high protein. Stop eating carbs after 3pm. The reason for that is the bodies matabalism slows down later in the day and you wont process the carbs. They will be stored as fat. Eat clean and smaller meals just like you are doing. You will feel and look better in a few months.

I was so into bodybuilding at one time. I went from 135 to 215 and im only 5'8. I have been out of the scene for a few years. I figure as long as I dont get a gut im ok. LOL... I would say go to Barnes and Nobel and check the diet or bodybuilding section. I was very in tune with my body and new what I could consume and not get fat. I ate 8 times a day mostly chicken, londonbroil, tuna, and white meat turkey burgers for protien. As far as carbs brown rice, yams, and potatoes.

STAY AWAY from pasta, bread, and white rice. You need to calculate your body weight by the amount of carbs you need to take in. For someone like yourself you need to go low to loose the weight. I forgot the names of the books I had. You should also look into buying a real good heavy duty multi vitamin and mineral tablet.

You should also write down what you eat so you can see what works best for you. Everyones body reacts different. ZFor now I would get your ass on a tradmill 45 min 6 days a week. You can lift light weights, but the cardio should be your main focus at this point. You want to get the weight off first.

Another cool tip is to use a site like fatsecret.com or thedailyplate.com to monitor your food intake. Simply put it what you ate and it will calculate your total calorie intake, macronutrient levels (i.e. how much of your diet is comprised of protein, carbs, fat) and if you make yourself enter everything you eat, will probably lead you to make better choices.
