As some of you guys already know, I've been looking for my next amp. I spent a few hours at both Guitar Center and Sam Ash today, playing several different amps.

The PRS MT15 has a great sound, but I don't think it's for me. Way more gain than I'll ever use and I just wasn't getting with the way it's eq'd.

Vox AC15 was cool. I'm still not sure if I'd be happy with its tone.

Fender 68 Deluxe Reverb had an incredible clean tone. But you have to get it way to loud to begin to break up.

Fender Blues Jr had a really great breakup, but seemed a bit boxy to me.

Of course, neither store had an EVH in stock.

Now to the Orange OR15. I really liked this one. The gain structure and eq sounded just right to me, both when just breaking up all the way to full saturation. And the volume was just right. I've never played an Orange before. I wonder how the other small Orange heads like the Terrors compare to this? They didn't have those. And are there any Oranges like the OR15 that are 2 channel?

I think if you get anything with small tubes in it like EL84 you may end up not liking it after awhile, I have never liked EL84's or 6V6's. If I were you I would stick to 50 watts or so. IF you really want low watts the MT15 has big glass with the 6L6.

Since you have the Marshall stuff coverd the MT-15 being modern more Recto/Uberschall like voiced it would be different than what you already have.

Orange seems to make a good amp but they have there own voicing you have to like. I've never played am Orange so I can't comment. Ar least you went out and actually played some amps which helps you actually hear them to make an educated decision. They make a solid state Qrange Crush CR120 that King's X guitar player TY Tabor has been using live a couple of years ago and he gets some killer tones out of it, I have considered it many times but I have enough amps. If I were gigging I'd get one.

$449 bucks for two channels and it seems to have a great tone no tubes to mess with.

I believed I suggested an Orange :D

Whatever works for you, but the orange would be a different flavor for sure. At the end of the day, when an amp seems to vibe with me for whatever reason, I usually take it.
