I want an Explorer, but at that price, I can't pass it up.

Ah, my bank account is NOT happy with me for doing this

That looks really nice. I want to change my LP bridge to a Emerald or a Godwood from the BB Pro, so those must be nice pups if you like them that much..

Haha, will do. You've got first dibs

Does Agile have an lp with a chunky neck? I'd love to have a good sounding budget LP to take to gigs instead of having drunk chicks knocking into my Gibson R8 all night. Was looking at Edwards but these Agiles seem pretty nice...

if i am not mistaken they make versions of the LP with both slim taper necks and more traditional "chunky" necks as well. these guitars really do play well, even though they dont cost a whole lot to own.

The Agile line was started by a dude in the guitar dept at the local music store where I bought my very first guitar, Rondo Music. now the storefront no longer remains and it is just his mail order business.

The Agile guitars are made in Korea in the single guitar factory there. they also make Epiphones, ESP ltd, Schecter etc. Many other name brands found made in Korea.

SO the Agiles are in fact the leftover parts from major manufacturer stamped with a new name.

These guitars are just as good as your mid grade epiphones and ESPs because they ARE those guitars.

That may be the case. But this one is worlds apart from the Epiphone Standard that I had for awhile. I don't know if I got a really good one or what. And I doubt I'm going to convince any Gibson die hards that it plays and sounds better than the LP's I listed in my original post..............but it does.

I can't wait to get my Silverburst on Friday. Hopefully it's as nice as you guys say. I've not dug most of the Epi's I've played, which includes the cheapest to the top of the line models. Let's hope this thing outplays them for me.

Will post new pics and a review sometime after I get it.

Oh, and big props to dawnofdreamx97! He's a stand up dude. Threw in a set of elixir strings (expensive for strings, but my favorite right now), a gig bag, a new strap and straplocks. Then he shipped it express so I could have it for the get-together I'm having this weekend. How cool is that? To top it off, he was sick earlier this week. Went way out of his way to help me out. A great guy, indeed.

you will be very happy i think. the agile you got is especially nice because the neck isnt painted .... that maple looks kool with that silverburst finish.

I agree! Gonna look even better once I get some chrome covered 'buckers in it. Not a fan of the black pickups with that particular finish. Looks good either way, but still.

The neck being sanded down is cool. I do like both a natural and a painted neck alright. My Artcore has a painted neck, and it has never once bothered me, but my RG770DX has the natural neck, and it's just a little bit smoother to me. Bear in mind both guitars are a bit old (5 years or so on the Artcore, and the RG is a '91), so that makes a big difference.

i dont know wether you like active pickups or not, but a chrome emg 81/85 pickup set would be insane in that guitar ...

I've got a love/hate relationship with EMG's. I've got a set of them that was in a Les Paul of mine 4-5 years ago (85 and a 60), and I liked it alright. Actually got some pretty good clean tones out of them, which was surprising. I've just moved back into the passive world lately. With all of the new options, it's hard not to experiment a bit. I also like to split both the bridge and the neck, so I'd have to go with 89's.

Thank god EMG is finally selling their pups w/ different colored covers. I remember so many people skipping out on them just because they were black or white. And the white one's were hard to find back in the day. I've seen a few people put covers on theirs (I think Monty-Jay here at the boards did this many years ago in a Les Paul, maybe an Edwards?, back when I knew him from MetBoard). Looked great

BTW, I've got some pickups up for trade. Check out my post in the Classifieds  The EMG's are up there too.

Got the 2500 Silverburst today. Pretty nice guitar! Nice weight to it, neck feels nice. It doesn't blow me away, but it does feel like a "nice" Les Paul. MUCH better than the Epi models I've played (including the high end stuff), 2 out of the 3 Edwards I've played, and it's on par with the Orville. VERY cool! It's pretty dark sounding through my rig right now, but I haven't adjusted anything yet. The pickups really aren't that bad, but they will get switched out very soon. It's a totally different sound than my semi-hollow, as expected.

So, was I blown away by it? No. But is it a quality guitar that I can see myself playing every day, at home and out live? Absolutely. To me, it feels like a Les Paul should. Very similar to the quality Les Paul's I've played over the years.

Very cool  Thanks to dawnofrock97 for such great service. Shipped it express for me (arrived in 2 days!), and included a bunch of free stuff. Not to mention it was a great deal even before this. A great guy to deal with, highly recommend him! That's the best thing about being here. The majority of the people here are great, helpful people that will go out of their way to help a fellow RT'er, if they've earned it. A great community here.

Today I replaced the volume pots for CTS 500k and completely disconnected the tone pots. Made a difference for the better. Gave me a bit fuller/thicker sound while brightening it up just a bit. Not sure what pickups are in your Silverburst, but these Alnico V's in mine sound fantastic. It's nice to get a LP'ish guitar and not have to try and figure out what pickups to put in it !
